Phil is a man of many hobbies and passions. Some came and went- like growing a vegetable garden, making authentic kimchi, or brewing his own mead. Others stuck for life: playing guitar, riding his motorcycle… and most notably, his dive into philosophy. Phil was finishing his PhD in philosophy when a new excitement crossed his path- coffee. So, while still working on his dissertation, he became a barista at his neighborhood coffee shop, The Abbey. Meanwhile, Jessie, though less prone to collecting hobbies, was a woman of deep care and creativity. After a lifelong study of the arts, she used her abilities to connect with others. While working as a designer at a church in San Jose, she reconnected with some old friends at The Abbey and was invited to host a small art show there. And this, friends, is how Phil and Jessie met. Many coffees and a lot of illustrations later, the two had become friends- until one day, Phil plucked up the courage to ask Jessie out properly. Surprised (and impressed) by the bold move, Jessie said yes. Since then, the two have been through a lot together: a trip to Poland, buying a car, a car crash, moving house, buying another car, painting a 20 ft mural, starting a coffee company, grading a lot of papers, creating a lot of illustrations, a trip to the East Coast, more moving, job transitions, and much, much more. Most importantly, they fell in love. And now, they're getting married.
