Our wedding and reception will be 100% alcohol free. We have taken it upon ourselves to provide a festive atmosphere that all will remember, where we get to collaboratively explore a celebration that is fueled by botanicals, adaptogens, and genuine human enthusiasm. There will be ‘functional alternative cocktails’ during social hour, and TÖST champagne alternative during dinner. For the reception, we will provide an “Alchemy Potion Bar” of drinks to boost energy, increase sociability, or deepen relaxation by the bonfire. None of the functional alternatives have any THC, psilocybin, or any other ‘adult’ substances. This is not to say they don’t have an effect! Moderation and intentional pacing are encouraged. We will have some (smokable) cannabis offerings at the bonfire - and you’re welcome to bring your own too. Please do refrain from bringing any alcohol as we have carefully crafted a libation experience that we are greatly looking forward to sharing with our guests. We are not providing any drinkable or edible THC products to ensure that no one unwittingly consumes cannabis. For more information on functional alternatives, please see links below. Weather on the UP can be quite unpredictable. September is typically a mild, relatively dry time of year. However, that can change in an instant. We highly recommend bringing a layer for warmth, rain, or both. We will have fires and tents for warmth and shelter, but a layer or two would be wise in case of surprise rainstorm or colder than expected weather. Our wedding and reception will be held entirely outside. We have made considerable efforts to remedy any muddy areas and provide a safe and clean environment for our guests. That being said, clothes and shoes are likely to take on some evidence of a woodland party. Dress nice, but not too nice 😉
On Friday, the Bride and Groom will be at Wetmore Landing on the shores of Lake Superior, just north of Marquette. Parking is available at the Wetmore Landing lot, or across the street. Once in the lot, find the trailhead and walk all the way down the path until you reach the lake. The beach at the bottom of that trail is where we will be. It's about a 5 minute walk from the Wetmore Landing parking lot. We have never heard of anyone getting ticketed for not having the recreation passport. For those concerned, there is a self-service kiosk for access passes near the wide trail to the beach. See schedule for more details. There is no cell phone reception at Wetmore Landing. It is easy to find using Google Maps and there is a Michigan Parks sign pointing to the beach. Please ensure you have the directions properly loaded before departure. For more details, please click "Schedule" above.
On Saturday, please arrive no later than 3:45pm. Please drive SLOWLY down to the bottom of the driveway, then make a U-turn and proceed back up the driveway for parking on the righthand side when facing uphill. This will avoid congestion in the dark when people are leaving. For help parking, or if you are uncomfortable parking in the tight spaces provided, please ask for Keats or Daniel.
Our food menu will be made from locally sourced ingredients, and prepared by a fantastic local chef, Alex Palzewicz, from Northwoods Test Kitchen: Greens Salad (local greens and seasonal veggies with maple balsamic dressing) - vegan Mushroom Rice Pilaf (Jasmine rice, spices and local mushrooms) - vegan Roasted Veggies (roasted seasoned local veggies) - vegan Tofu (rice vinegar, tamari, light chili spice, maple, sesame oil, garlic, ginger) - vegan Kafta (beef, lamb, shallot, garlic, onion, toasted pinenuts, onion, cumin, raisins, cinnamon, coriander, za'atar and parsley) - NOT VEGAN Bread & Naan garlic naan, local bread and herbed butter (as marked) Yuzu Lemonade, sweetened with our own homemade maple syrup from the trees surrounding the ceremony.
Fret no longer! Come back on by between noon and 2:00 PM on Sunday to help us break down tents, load up chairs and tables, eat breakfast burritos (supplies limited).

Marquette is a tourist and college town with plenty of hotels, motels, and quaint lodging options. There is sure to be something that fits your preferences, but we do recommend booking in advance because summer is the busiest time of year here. There are many great places to camp in the area. Our friends recently started a campground called Kona Hills, which offers gorgeous views of the lake and is only a 10 minute drive from our house. There are tons of other great options for reserved sites and dispersed camping nearby as well. If you're planning to stay in an AirBnB, make sure to reserve well in advance as at they tend to book quickly. For a historic and luxury experience, check out the Landmark Inn, in Marquette. Another great historic hotel is the Mather Inn, which also happens to be across the street from where we met at the Ishpeming Library.
Please arrange for transportation or contact Larry Carter (larfelcom@yahoo.com) to coordinate carpooling.
For our wedding, we ask that you leave your pets at home.
