The sandstone cliffs of Zion brought us together when both worked as Park Rangers in Southern Utah. In a scene worthy of a romance novel, we locked eyes from across the room at a dinner party, but the vibe quickly shifted from romance to rom-com once Phenix recognized Michaela as the girl she'd ghosted on Tinder several months back. After a glass or two of wine, Phenix was quick to recognize (and apologize) for her mistake. Michaela was sweet enough to give it a go, and we were head over heels from the beginning. At the time, Michaela was getting ready to head to the academy for a few months, and we only managed to sneak in one date before she left. Which meant we fell in love over video chat, Michaela in the driver's seat of her old Tacoma in a parking lot in Georgia, Phenix in her studio apartment at the edge of the Red Mountain Wilderness in Utah. 5 months later (who's counting?!) Michaela moved back to Vegas, and the distance went from a 5-day drive to a 3-hour one. Phenix worked at the State Park in Southern Utah, and Michaela was a ranger in Southern Nevada, which meant 3 years of weekend dates, late nights, and early mornings. We hiked, paddle boarded, and camped across the desert. Each goodbye got harder, and last year, we finally felt ready to rent that U-Haul and move together to Oregon. We're so excited to start our lives together, and in Oregon. We know you'll love the state as much as we love each other.
