The Pfohl family has a Christmas tradition of going to a tree farm and cutting down the Christmas tree. After cutting down the tree, it is always a must to go out to breakfast as a family! It is one of Sam’s favorite family memories. Phil decided it was the perfect spot to propose because tradition has it that you take pictures with your tree before cutting it down (Sam suspected nothing). However, this year was different because the Boyd family wanted to come along and have their own tree to cut down. So right as Phil and I found our tree and were able to take the picture, Phil got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I replied, “Thank You”. The best part of the proposal was not only was family there but Sam’s very best friends, Jen and Chris, we’re sneaking around and got to capture the moment! Phil then surprised me with an engagement party brunch at Island’s in Batavia. The whole day was spent on us and it was perfect!

The first time we met was when I(Sam) joined a co-Ed soccer team. The first team I played on decided it was their last year as a team and simultaneously, Phil’s soccer team was splitting into two. That is when my friends, Mike and Quentin brought it to my attention that they needed girls for the new team that Phil was on. So I decided to join and bring some of my friends. That is when I first met Phil. I thought Phil was a jerk when I first saw him because he was wearing a cut off in the winter to play soccer indoors. I will say, He did have nice arms though! Shortly after, Phil and I started becoming friends and I fell in love with the Batavia soccer crew. It all fell right into place.
