The first time I met Peyton was at work. It was my first month there, and my supervisor had me go out in the field with him and Peyton for training. While we were driving, I remember Peyton asked me what I put in my hair. I guess she liked my hair, but honestly, I was so nervous because I’m a shy person when I first meet people. I really don’t even remember what I said back to her 😂. We got to these apartments where her client stayed, and my supervisor had me go with her to do the home visit. I remember it like it was yesterday. She was wearing some blue jeans with her work shirt on, and she had these long braids. I was already thinking to myself, “Man, she is beautiful.” But what really got me was watching her with her client. She wasn’t just asking questions because the job required it. She was genuinely interested in her client’s wellbeing. Right there I could tell she wasn’t doing this just for the money – she actually loved helping people. And something told me then that she was special. But at the time, I was going through some things in my own life, so I didn’t pursue her. A few months went by, and what I was going through came to an end. I remember praying to God, telling Him I was ready for my wife, and asking Him to send her my way. The very next morning I went to work, and as soon as I clocked in, a friend of mine’s wife came up to me. She worked there too, along with Peyton. She said, “There’s a woman here at the job that likes you and wants to get to know you.” I was hesitant because I felt like God had me on a journey at that time. But then I remembered the prayer I prayed the night before. I asked her who it was, and she said, “Peyton.” So I said yes. In my head I was thinking, “Maybe this is God answering my prayer.” But I just didn’t know 100%. She gave me Peyton’s number, and for three days I was still contemplating if I should reach out or not. Finally, something told me to just text her, so I did. We started talking from there, and honestly, it has been an amazing ride ever since. I would have never in a million years believed that the woman I saw that day talking to her client would be the woman I’m about to marry. I’ve told her this a million times already, but it’s still true to this day – Peyton saved my life. She saved me from going back to things that were not for me. She gave me peace. I remember one night, we were outside her house, sitting in my truck just talking. I almost cried because, right then and there, I realized that everything I had been through in my life, all the pain and hurt I had caused, was being washed away. I had a new future to look forward to. A future that God is giving me. Peyton is that future.
I’ll never forget the day in October of 2023 when my supervisor came to the back area of the building, where my coworkers and I were sitting, to introduce a new employee. I remember thinking to myself, “Dang! He’s cute!” I would soon learn that the new employee's name was Daniell, and little did I know I had just laid eyes on the person who would become my forever. As the next few months went by, Daniell and I went about our own routines at work, each doing our own thing and not really speaking. When we had all-staff meetings at work, our supervisor would ask Daniell to pray before the meetings began. Two of our coworkers went to church with Daniell. So I knew he was a Christian and there were people who could vouch for his character outside of work. By January of 2024, I developed a crush on Daniell. One day in January, after I had arrived to work, I pulled one of my coworkers who know Daniell outside of work to the side. Nervously, I asked “Is Daniell single?” She replied, “Yes, and he’s looking for a wife.” My nervous, giddy smile appeared. I didn’t know that I was going to pull coworker to the side that morning and to be honest, I didn’t really think the next steps through. She ended up saying, “Well how about this, I will speak to him and let him know that you are interested, and see if he would like to exchange numbers.” About 15 minutes later, she discreetly put a sticky note on my desk that read, “he said yes.” A few days later, I received the initial text from Daniell. Within that same week, we began talking on the phone and I could sense his intentionality through the questions he asked during our phone conversations. I developed feelings that I had not felt before. Our first date was in February of 2024 and we made it official shortly after. One of the things that made me fall in love with Daniell was his intentionality. From the beginning, we knew we were headed towards something serious. As our relationship progressed, so did our love. I was excited to see him each day. Fast forward to December of 2024, Daniell and I were at church. After the service, he told me that he was going to meet up with my dad over coffee. It was weird for me because I know Daniell doesn’t drink coffee and I didn’t recall my dad mentioning the meeting. Later on down the line, I discovered Daniell asked my dad for my hand in marriage. The proposal took place on December 30th, 2024 surrounded by family. It was a beautiful reminder that our love story is just beginning.
