If you’ve found this page we are so excited that you are here!! To celebrate 5 years of marriage we have decided to get our friends and family together and renew our vows with all of our loved ones in attendance! We always planned to come home to North Carolina and have a reception at some point. We never expected time to fly the way it has, because here we are almost 5 years later and we haven’t done anything to celebrate! (And if you know us, we like to party!)
We met in 2014, the summer after Austin graduated from High School. I, Peyton, had noticed Austin at the end of the year with all the Senior events happening. I was in chorus and had to perform for Senior Awards night and Graduation. I noticed Austin at both these events but could never muster the courage to talk to him in person! I added him on Facebook after the school year and decided to message him on there! Austin was apprehensive to "Talk" or get into a relationship because he knew he would be leaving for the Navy that fall. I assured him that everything would be okay and if we got to that point we could figure things out from there. Well, we got to that point and started to date right before Austin left to join the Navy. Our first year of dating was nothing either of us expected it to be. After Austin finished his schooling for the Navy he got to come home for a short bit, neither of us imagined that it would be the last time we would see each other for 8 months. When Austin got out to San Diego he found out he would be leaving for a deployment just two weeks after arriving. This was the start of LOTS of distance and time spent apart.
The days and months of waiting for the deployment to end seemed to take a lifetime. Since it was Austin’s first deployment he had limited access to communication. We went through long stretches without talking. Austin returned from his deployment in December. My mom and I flew out to San Diego to welcome him home from deployment. It was at the point that we knew if we made it through a deployment together that we could make it through anything. While in San Diego I was supposed to look at colleges to see if I wanted to make the move out there for school. However, I strongly felt that I needed to stay in North Carolina. Austin agreed, with his own busy schedule and ship life he thought it would be best for me to stay in NC for school. This began our next stretch of long distance.
Every summer and winter break I would go out to San Diego and stay with Austin! We spent time Airbnb hopping and getting to live all over the city we would eventually call home together. After three years of dating Austin proposed. He planned out a beautiful evening on our three year anniversary. He took me to Mister A’s restaurant and very nervously asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. 11 months to the day after Austin proposed, we eloped. We got married on the beautiful cliffs of San Diego. There is nothing we would change about our elopement day, but we are SO excited to celebrate with you now :)
I wanted to update this page to let everyone know that the invitations have been sent out. We kindly ask that RSVP's be sent back by April 18th.
