Peyton and Annie met at the beginning of their freshman year at Dallas Baptist University during soccer preseason. They quickly became part of the same friend group and were soon inseparable. By the time Christmas break came around—Peyton heading home to Colorado and Annie staying in Texas—they realized just how much they missed each other. When January rolled around and they finally reunited, Peyton asked Annie to be his girlfriend. That was her very first “easiest yes.” The following summer, Peyton went to Mississippi to play semi-pro soccer while Annie worked at Pine Cove in East Texas. With only 24 hours each week to talk, they were both able to grow not only their love for each other but also their love for the Lord in deeper ways. Returning to DBU for their sophomore year felt sweeter than ever. They became each other’s biggest fans, cheering from the sidelines at every soccer game. They both still recall it as one of their most joyful years of college. After a year of dating, it was clear they had fallen in love. Peyton told Annie “I love you” on Valentine’s Day 2023—although, they both admit they knew it long before. Another summer apart came with its challenges (Annie cried every time they said goodbye), but they encouraged each other from afar. Annie even spent time with Peyton’s family in Colorado and ended up canceling her flight home so they could road trip back to Texas together—13 hours straight, loving each other more with every mile;) Year after year, college only grew sweeter. Through both joys and challenges, they learned to comfort, encourage, and cherish one another. Annie found in Peyton her safe place—someone who always made her feel loved and secure—while Peyton describes Annie as caring and thoughtful, always making him feel heard. In December 2024, both wrapped up their college soccer careers, closing a meaningful chapter. By May 2025, Peyton graduated and moved to Texas full-time, while Annie continued pursuing her Master’s in Professional Counseling. Then, on August 30, 2025, on DBU’s campus where their love story began, Peyton got down on one knee and asked Annie to marry him. This, of course, was Annie’s next “easiest yes.” They thank the Lord for His faithfulness in bringing them together and cannot wait to celebrate the start of forever with all of you.
