How We Met

Peyton and Andrew first crossed paths in the summer of 2024 while working as camp counselors. Andrew had worked at camp the year before, and Peyton already knew who he was because of his popularity there. Later, they were officially introduced through a mutual friend, but the moment that truly changed everything happened one evening weeks later. Camp was hosting a swing-dancing night for the counselors after hours, and out of nowhere, Andrew walked straight up to Peyton and asked her to dance with him. They were acquaintances at the time, so this came off guard to Peyton and almost didn’t answer, which Andrew then took as a “no”, but then she smiled and said “yes.” (thankfully) They danced, they laughed, and later that night the two of them walked back with friends. Somewhere along that walk, Andrew fell in love with Peyton’s laugh, and Peyton saw him differently after that night. A few days later, Andrew asked Peyton to hang out again during staff time. They spent the night talking on the lake dock, and came to find out they have a lot in common and shared the same dreams, faith, and expectations for their lives. Andrew then had to travel to Scotland for two weeks, but before he left, he asked Peyton for her number and officially asked her out on a date for when he returned. During his trip, he planned an entire three-part date in Peyton’s college town of Fayetteville, AR. When the two weeks were up, he took her to a hibachi dinner, then to the cross on Mount Sequoyah, where they also played a card game. Everything came together perfectly, making it a very successful first date. After that, they spent another month working together at camp, spending time together, and growing closer. Andrew drove to Fayetteville to help Peyton move into her new apartment, planning to officially ask her to be his girlfriend. Her parents were also coming to town to help, and Andrew intended to ask her dad for permission at dinner that evening. However, Peyton ended up getting extremely sick. Despite the change of plans, Andrew spent the night helping her pack up her apartment, and later that evening, he asked her dad. Her dad was highly impressed. Ever since then, our story has truly felt like a happily-ever-after, filled with countless drives between Tulsa, Fayetteville, and Texas, Target snack runs, movie nights, pickleball dates, and plenty more swing-dancing nights. We’re beyond excited to finally close the distance and step into this next chapter of marriage that God has blessed us with.
