Walkable from Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO has gorgeous and iconic views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges right off of the East River. Some spots we recommend are Time Out Market, Grimaldi's pizza, Cecconi's, and Gran Electrica.
Food market full of NYC vendors in DUMBO
Brooklyn Heights is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods of Brooklyn - beautiful and historic townhouses, with the gorgeous waterside Brooklyn Promenade (walkable from Downtown Brooklyn). We recommend walking through the neighborhood and stopping at Fornino's on Pier 6 for a pizza and a beer on the rooftop overlooking the East River, or at Pilot, a boat docked at Pier 6, for oysters and a glass of wine.
Another great indoor food market with local NYC vendors. Great for some local shopping or a quick bite!
The home of Fort Greene park (Jogi's favorite place in the city), there are a ton of great neighborhood bars and restaurants in the surrounding area. Some of our favorites include Evelina or Walter's for a bite, and Rhodora Wine Bar or Cardiff Giant for a drink.
Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan. You'll find yourself in downtown Manhattan, where you can explore the historic Financial District as well as the World Trade Center. Other areas to check out are Battery Park that has great views of the Statue of Liberty, as well as South Street Seaport which has a modern mix of restaurants and bars.
Our first apartment together was in Williamsburg, and we fell in love with the area and all of its neighborhood gems. It's filled with some of the best bars and restaurants in the city - some of our favorites include: Spritzenhaus or Radegast for a beer (or three), Motorino or Emmy Squared for pizza, Fette Sau for BBQ, Meadowsweet or Marlow & Sons for a good brunch, and Yuji or Suzume for a great bowl of ramen. Also recommended are the rooftops of the Wythe or William Vale hotels for a cocktail and gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline.
