Things To Do

We can’t wait to welcome you to Louisville, Kentucky for our wedding! Whether you’re coming just for the weekend or turning this into a mini Kentucky vacation, there’s so much to see, sip, and explore while you’re here. Below are some of our favorite spots — including some must-do bourbon stops and a chance to see live horse racing (because this is Kentucky, after all).

Local Spots

If you’re keeping it local, there’s plenty to do right here in town: Waterfront Park and the Big Four Bridge – Walk across the Ohio River (bonus points for stepping into Indiana). NuLu – Trendy, artsy, full of great food, local shops, and bourbon bars. Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory – Learn about baseball history and hold a bat taller than you! Speed Art Museum and KMAC: Discover contemporary and local art in these stunning spaces. The Belle of Louisville: Take a scenic cruise on the oldest operating steamboat.

Bourbon Trail

Let’s cut to the chase — if you’re in Kentucky, you have to drink bourbon. It’s basically a requirement. Whether you’re a seasoned bourbon fan or just here for the vibes, these distilleries are absolute legends: Buffalo Trace - The only distillery with free tours! Maker’s Mark – Gorgeous rolling hills, iconic red wax, and you can even dip your own bottle to take home. Plus, if you like art, you can see one of Chihuly's famous glass sculptures! Woodford Reserve – Always a classic. Be sure to try Dan's favorite bourbon, the Double Oaked Woodford bottle. Bulleit Distilling Co. – Modern and bold, just like their bourbon. Plus, it’s super close to Louisville, so it’s an easy stop if you’re short on time. Want to keep it close to downtown Louisville? Check out: Angel’s Envy Evan Williams Bourbon Experience Old Forester – The first bottled bourbon ever — and the tour’s a blast.

Keeneland: Live Horse Racing!

4201 Versailles Road, Lexington, KY 40510

If you’re arriving a day or two early (or just want to make a day of it), Keeneland is an absolute must. Located in Lexington (just over an hour away), Keeneland is one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world — and lucky for all of us (jk we planned it this way), live racing will be happening while you’re here! Pro tip: Keeneland tailgating is a thing — bring a cooler and set up shop before heading inside! I would also recommend getting tickets in advance! They sell out quickly - even a month before sometimes!

Mammoth Cave

Mammoth Cave, KY 42259

If you’re making a long weekend out of it, this is definitely a road trip-worthy stop. The world’s longest cave system — perfect for adventurers, nature lovers, and anyone who’s ever wanted to explore a real-life cave.

National Corvette Museum

350 Corvette Drive, Bowling Green, KY 42101

Car lovers, this is your spot if you want to drive a Corvette on a racetrack. It’s about 90 minutes south in Bowling Green.

The Kentucky Castle

230 Pisgah Pike, Versailles, KY 40383

Ever wanted to visit a castle in the middle of horse country? Here’s your chance. Located just outside Lexington, this fairytale-like spot is part luxury hotel, part farm-to-table restaurant, and all-around magical. Even if you don’t stay the night, it’s a gorgeous place to stop for lunch or a photo op.

For all the days along the way
