Yes! There are options for trains, buses, ferries to get to and from most of the neighboring cities
Our favorite is to go to the ATM right as you get to the airport. Take out some cash 200 Euros maybe, and plan to only use cash when necessary. Credit cards are the way to go. (We recommend using a credit card with no foreign transaction fee If you have one) TIP: Also, always choose the common currency wherever you travel to. Example: paying with credit card at a store, they ask "do you want to charge Euros or Dollars", choose Euros, there is a better exhange rate!
Yes! From EWR there is a direct flight into Naples. Boston/NYC flights to Ireland or other EU countries can get you to Europe and then Naples is a cheap flight from there.
We do not recommend a car, unless its for a day trip to see the coast or you REALLY want to. Parking is extremely limited and the driving is a bit .. different. They do have parking garages, but there is so much to do walking and via public transport as well as taxis are reasonable.
Capri is one of our favorites, which is an island close via the ferry. The famous Blue Grotto is there. Tons of shops, restaurants, great seafood, and lively towns. Look @ the Things to Do page!
DENINOS on Staten Island, haha just kidding, but really... it is. Still up for debate in Sorrento. We are hoping you all can help us in finding the best Neopolitan Pizza in the Amalfi Coast!
Personally, we have never stayed in Naples, and I hear good things, but it is no Amalfi coast 🌸 Naples is known for occasional pickpocketers and con-artists (but so is Rome, Barcelona, South/Central America, Athens, and anywhere basically) It is one of the things you have to just be vigilant of when traveling in Europe and around the world. TIP: do not give money to anyone who "works" there unless they are behind the counter. Doesn't matter if they have a uniform on. Buy tickets in advance when you can or use the machines. Go into a place with an idea of where you need to be (North, South, what is the last stop of the train? etc). Try not the show flashy things. Be smart and you're going to be good to go. Don't be a Stupido Americano 🤓🙃😍
Right now, the EURO is approximately $1.09 = 1 Euro. The lowest I have seen in my lifetime. Recommended: Use credit cards with no foreign transaction fees as much as possible. CASH: Getting Euros in the USA ahead of time is a great idea if you can. Taking out cash at an ATM is a great option too, however, they do charge a bit for currency exchange, which is new, and we aren't used to that. You can also convert USD to EURO at a currency exchange place. To be honest, the exchange prices have changed quite a bit, so we would just recommend looking and comparing your options, and use credit card when you can (most every place)
