In the summer of 2014, Jessica and Brandon met under the tall pines and starry skies of Bass Lake, CA. Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp set the backdrop for this budding romance – she was a counselor, he was a photographer. The pair quickly formed a close bond (she laughed at his jokes, and he tried his hardest to hold her hand during group prayers) but they seldom found any time alone together. After three months of working together, the two got ready to part ways... but not before a late-night love letter was penned and delivered! During that fall, they talked over the phone & wrote letters back and forth (from Sterling, KS to Santa Barbara, CA), but eventually decided to keep things simple and remain just friends. Jess and Brandon would both return for more summers on staff at YSSC, where they worked well together and enjoyed days off in Yosemite. This friendship lasted for 4 years, as Brandon finished school at Sterling College and Jess moved to LA to study at Fuller Seminary. It wasn't until the summer of 2018, where they once again found themselves at camp, that Brandon finally asked Jessica on a date! That first date (a long car-ride and Chipotle for dinner) went so smoothly, that dates 2 and 3 quickly followed within the same week.

On November 23rd, 2019, Jessica woke up thinking she was surprising her roommate with a birthday breakfast. Instead, and much to her own surprise, Jessica's friends dropped her off at the airport. She flew north to Yosemite, and was picked up and brought to camp, where Brandon was waiting with love letters in hand and ring in pocket. This summer camp meadow, now speckled with late-autumn sunshine, housed both nostalgia and newness as the couple looked back at where they had come from, and forward to their life together.

After 4 years of long distance friendship, and over a year of long distance dating, Jessica and Brandon finally live in the same town - the beautiful beachside city of Dana Point, CA! Brandon is pursuing a career as a freelance creative, specializing in graphic design & photography. And, remember that camp where the couple met? Well Jess is now the full-time Program Director for Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp! The couple is so excited to be growing together in their ministries, passions, and community in this new season. And they can't wait to gather together in October (with all of you!) to celebrate all the ways the Lord has blessed their relationship, and commit their lives together forever. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
