Emily had bought tickets to a Bassnectar show on November 1, 2014 (Day of the Dead). She had planned to go with some friends (2 of which are bridesmaids, Brooke & Kelcie!) but Brooke couldn't go. Em said she would just sell the ticket so she made a post on the Electric Forest Family page on Facebook. Logan wasn't planning on going to the concert but his friend tagged him in it and he was the first person to message her and was going to be traveling 2 1/2 hours from the West side of Michigan over to Detroit with friends. They met in person in the lobby of Logan's hotel, where Emily printed the tickets, he gave her the $ for the ticket and she told him "next time you see me I'll have my face painted like a sugar skull!" Even though they both knew the chances of running into each other at this sold old show was slim to none, they secretly both hoped they would. About halfway through the show, Emily spotted Logan and maneuvered her way through the crowd with her friends to surprise him... Since her face was fully painted, he had no idea who she was until she said her name. The whole group had an amazing night and they went their separate ways after the show was over. Later that night, Logan texted Emily and as he likes to put it "never stopped bugging her since then."
Emily was oblivious! They had planned a weekend for their friends Dom & Kevin to come visit with their new baby, Porter and their friends Coop and Heather were also driving to town for "a concert in Detroit." None of this was out of the ordinary, so Em didn't question it. Earlier that week Dom texted Em saying how she needed to get her nails done and suggested they have some girl time on Saturday morning. Em said "Sure, but I don't get my nails done...so I'll just get a pedicure" but Dom insisted she get her nails done too, so Em finally said she would...so oblivious! Saturday came, Logan made breakfast and then the girls went to the nail salon. When they got home they all got ready to head to Belle Isle in Detroit (a place where Em & Logan like to hang out & hammock in the summer) to check out the Conservatory. Dom even brought her nice camera to take nice pictures of the plants and document their first family trip away from home (or at least that's what Emily thought) They walked through in awe of all the beautiful plants and Emily thought to herself "this would be such an amazing place to get married or proposed to" but still oblivious to the fact that Logan's plan was falling perfectly into place. They took some pictures and then walked out to the green courtyard. Logan suggested they walk down the middle, Emily suggested using the path, made for walking on since the grass was wet but Logan insisted. Emily was walking in front of him. He grabbed her hand and pulled her back and gave her a kiss then she turned to keep walking. He pulled her back again and said "I love you Emily, I've known since the moment I met you that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?!" Emily immediately burst into ugly tears while said YES and hugged him. Logan had one more trick up his sleeve for when they got home. He had planned a surprise engagement party at their house with all their close friends to help them celebrate. It was a perfect weekend!
