The Wedding Website of Taylor Maag and Peter Hall
Question

Why Marblehead?

Answer

Marblehead is a small, coastal, New England town with stunning views of the ocean and historical streets with homes dating back to the 1600’s. There are so many great places to eat and drink as well as site-seeing in town and close by. Taylor grew up in Marblehead and her family still resides in town. Like how many feel about their hometown, Marblehead holds a special place in Taylor's heart. While forced on him at first, through his visits, Peter has grown to love Marblehead as much as Taylor...well almost. Look out below for another FAQ on some recommendations from the bride and groom!

Question

What is the Dress Code For The Wedding Events?

Answer

For welcome drinks, please feel free to wear casual attire. The event will be held indoors. For the wedding and reception, the dress code is formal. Our wedding ceremony will be held indoors but our cocktail hour and reception will be partially outdoors and held on grass.

Question

Will Transportation Be Provided To Wedding Events?

Answer

Transportation will not be provided for Friday's welcome drinks. Transportation will be provided on Saturday from the ceremony at the Old North Church to the reception at the Eastern Yacht Club. There will also be transportation right after the reception ends at 11pm, bringing guests staying at the Boston Yacht Club, Harbor Light Inn and Hotel Marblehead home. Guests will be responsible for their own transportation to the ceremony and home if they are not staying at these places or want to enjoy the after party. There is plenty of parking at the church and yacht club if people choose to drive and it is very easy to access Uber/Lyft.

Question

Where are good places to eat & drink in Marblehead?

Answer

While we are biased, there are SO many amazing places to eat and drink in Marblehead. Here are some of our favorites: - Maddie’s Sail Loft: Every Marbleheader will recommend Maddie’s. World-renowned as one of the best sailing bars, Maddie's is also known for their heavy pour and good food. If you haven't before, try their Thunderdome - but please not before our wedding! - Cafe Italia: A Maag family favorite. Cafe Italia is the Italian restaurant in town. It's centrally located with amazing rolls, pasta and martinis (dirty & espresso)! -Three Cod Tavern: Right downtown, Three Cod is another staple for New England classics like chowder and lobster rolls and has a great bar (if you can't tell, good bars are a common theme in town). - The Barnacle: Best fried clams in town, with fantastic views of Marblehead harbor. - Java Sun & Blue Canoe: These are two coffee/breakfast spots in town and two of our favorites. They both have great coffee, breakfast options and other pastries/snacks. - Minos Roast Beef OR Village Roast Beef: Don't forget to try The North Shore's famous Roast Beef when you're in town. While there is much debate over who has the best "beef" in town, both Minos and Village are great options.

Question

What are fun things to do while in town?

Answer

There are so many activities for guests to do while in the area! In Marblehead - Walk Around Town: From downtown to Old Town, walking around Marblehead is an experience with history, great shops, galleries and many restaurants (even more than mentioned above). What is amazing about Marblehead is that you are always a short walk from the harbor or the ocean. - Spend time on the coast: While May in Marblehead means unpredictable weather, if able you should definitely spend time on the water. This could be a scenic drive, walk or bike ride across the causeway and around Marblehead Neck. On the Neck you can visit Chandler Hovey Park - where Marblehead’s lighthouse is located and watch the sunrise or sunset at Castle Rock. Devereux Beach, Crocker Park and Fort Sewell are also great places to experience Marblehead's amazing views while learning about the town's unique history. - Historic Attractions: Speaking of history, for those into it, here are some other spots to check out. Old Burial Hill is a graveyard in town that was established in 1638 and contains the graves of “600 Revolutionary heroes” including that of General Jonathan Glover. Abbott Hall is another must see. Literally you will see it at some point because it is readily visible from most places in Marblehead. It's open Mon-Sat for tours of the historic building. The famous Spirit of '76 painting is housed here. In Salem: - Salem, MA borders Marblehead and is another great town to check out. It's famous for its 1692 witch trials. The Witch Museum and the House of Seven Gables are fan favorites and many tourists come in October for Halloween - luckily we're avoiding spooky season but it still is a beautiful and historical town to check out if you have time. Also if you have time, Dairy Witch, an ice cream shop in Salem is another Maag family favorite that was frequented often as the Maag kids were growing up.
