We met on June 3, 2022 at the Roundup Saloon in Peter's hometown, Lafayette, California. I was finishing up graduate school at Saint Mary's and Peter was in town for his friends' engagement party. Peter first laid eyes on me while I was out on the dance floor doing what I do best, dance. Peter was chatting with his buddy and his wife when he noticed me, he smirked and said to them, "Hey, check out that cute blonde out on the dance floor!" Shortly after, I decided to walk up and order myself something to drink and that's when Peter knew it was his chance to make his move. We danced the night away and even had a couple ask if we were married and if not, then we should be. Here we are a year later, planning our dream wedding!
On the anniversary of when we first met, Peter planned a surprise getaway. I had no idea what we were going to do that day or what to wear. I threw on a dress, we got in the car and ended up at his Aunt Suzie's house. He explained to me that they wanted us to come over to visit because they had just gotten back from Spain and I had never met her husband, John. We sat in their beautiful back yard, looked at pictures from their trip and when I noticed their bee farm, John took me over to look at the bees. Peter and Suzie had went inside but I just figured he was going to the bathroom and didn't think anything of it. Later on that day I discovered that is when Peter's aunt gave him his great grandmother's ring. Shortly after, we got back in the car and drove to Vsattui Winery, a charming Italian winery. We did a wine tasting and then ventured off to downtown Napa. We picked up some picnic foods from the market and I asked the cashier where we could go picnic (the weather was perfect). He mentioned the Historic Bale Grist State Historic Park located in Napa County between St. Helena and Cailstoga. Peter noticed that some of his relatives were linked to this Mill which was pretty incredible as it is one of the last standing mill's west of the Mississippi. It was pretty quiet as the tours were wrapping up for the day so we chose a table out in the middle of some beautiful trees to share a bottle of wine and have lunch. I looked at him and said, "this has been the best day." He replies, "Do you know how I could make it better?" and comes over to the side of the table I am sitting on, gets on one knee and that is the day he asked if I will be his wife. I SAID YES! :)
