Peter and Meredith met the new fashion way, swiping on Bumble. After matching, Meredith complimented Peter's objectively bad 4.7 Uber rating as it was the only information he had in his Bumble biography. A real man of mystery. They hit it off from there. Despite being on family vacation over Christmas, Peter all along the east coast and Meredith in Hawaii, they managed to stay in touch every day despite never meeting or even speaking in person and a six hour time difference. Finally, on January 1, 2019, a very hungover Peter convinced a very jet lagged Meredith to meet for dinner at the Continental. The dinner was a blast and subsequently they managed to go out basically every other day for the next two weeks. It wasn't long after that they were officially dating. They had a whirlwind 2019 involving countless weddings all over the country and a trip to Peter's parent's lake house at Candlewood Lake. Meredith finally got to try the world's greatest breakfast sandwich at Tony's Deli. Peter introduced Meredith to his passion for the New York Yankees and Red Zone, while Meredith converted Peter into a Summer House and Virginia Tech Football fan. Like many, big things were in store for 2020. Covid had other plans. Despite a world pandemic, they still managed to spend as much time together as possible and eventually move in together during the summer. One of the best parts of moving into their new townhouse was the pool at their complex. Critical for the summer of 2020. They made the best of 2020 and found a way back to the lake, making it an annual tradition. When 2021 came around, they decided, on a whim, to adopt a dog. Just like they started their relationship, Meredith and Peter swiped right on the Pet Finder app on a dog up for adoption near Waynesboro, Virginia. Without much thought, they drove to adopt him and Moose had a new home. Moose has brought so much love and joy into Meredith and Peter’s lives. As 2021 came to a close, Meredith kept reminding Peter of a "promise" he made about a ring at the end of 2021. Little did she know, he had a big plan for 2022. As a birthday present, Peter got Meredith a weekend away at the Greenbrier where Peter had already set up an elaborate proposal. Each year, Peter makes a photo book with pictures from the past year and always includes a message on the last page. This year, the last sentence of the message was a proposal surprise. With a little planning, Peter had the book and a bouquet set up near the Spring House, a famous Greenbrier landmark, and a photographer hidden in plain sight. They took a stroll down to see the Spring House, using abnormally warm weather as an excuse. After going through the book, Meredith ended up on the last page where Peter dropped to a knee and said "So?". Meredith said yes and they got to enjoy the entire weekend as a newly engaged couple, while watching miracle basketball championship runs for the Hokies and the Spiders.
