The Sazerac House (FREE!) provides visitors with an informative and in depth history of New Orleans spirits along with cocktail tastings. We love learning about the origins of the Sazerac, prohibition, and getting some free cocktail recipes. Something we learned, around 5,000 defiant New Orleans establishments served liquor during Prohibition. And a Mai Tai is always delicious.
Tucked away behind Fritz's Jazz Club, if you head through the green door by the stage, you will find the entrance to Potions Speakeasy. Tell the doorman in the courtyard that the vampire sent you, and you will be lead into a vampire themed speakeasy with excellent cocktails and tarot readings available on request.
Founded in 1840 and the birthplace of Oysters Rockefeller (Marcia's fave) we love this restaurant with a ton of Mardi Gras history. Notoriously haunted, we recommend asking for a look at their 2.5 mile long wine cellar. If you head down there, you'll find our names inscribed in the ceiling with our wedding date.
