How we met
Just a few weeks into her freshman year at Binghamton University, Kayla was settling into college life when she noticed a group playing co-rec football outside her dorm window. A lifelong football fan and eager to make new friends, she decided to join in. That decision would change everything. Among the players was Peter—who, at the time, was just another teammate. But after practice one day, as they walked back to Rafuse Hall together, they discovered something unexpected: they were dorm neighbors, living right next door to each other. From that moment on, their friendship grew quickly—fueled by late-night chats, shared meals, and countless inside jokes. They weren’t just teammates anymore; they had become true friends. And while neither of them said it out loud at first, love had been quietly blooming all along. By the start of second semester, on January 19, 2020, Peter asked Kayla out on their first date and that was the beginning of forever.
The proposal
On June 21st, 2025, Peter asked Kayla to spend forever with him at the Tarrytown Riverwalk—a scenic park overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline. With a little help from their friends Ryan and Anneka, Peter orchestrated the perfect surprise. Anneka invited the couple to brunch under the guise of celebrating Ryan's upcoming birthday. After brunch, the group strolled to the riverwalk to snap some photos. Anneka took a few sweet shots of Peter and Kayla, and as she showed Kayla how they turned out, Peter quietly got down on one knee behind her. When Kayla turned around, she found Peter holding a ring and asking the big question. Back home, Peter had flowers and cookies delivered (shoutout to Vin!) to keep the celebration going. And after calling friends and family to share the exciting news, it was time for dinner—where their families were waiting to kick off the celebration! It was a day filled with love, happy tears, and the start of their happily ever after.
