What a time to plan a wedding! Due to Connecticut's indoor/outdoor restrictions and our desire to keep our loved ones safe and still celebrate our marriage - we have decided to move UP our wedding to October 17, 2020. We are complying with CT's rules and limiting our guest count to family and bridal party and following appropriate social distancing guidelines. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and look forward to celebrating with you whether virtually or in person.
Peter and I first met my junior year of college at Liberty University. He was finishing up his masters and playing hockey while I was studying nursing and playing softball. Our friend Jeff was coming over for game night and brought Peter to play some dutch blitz. It sounds crazy, but I remember that night so clearly, from the moment Peter walked in the door wearing the all too classic, royal blue, Buffalo Bills windbreaker (if you know you know). What I remember most about that night was how he made me laugh and how he made me feel like we’d known each other for years. From there, a great friendship began to develop. Flash forward to summer 2017, I flew into town for a softball conference, and needed a ride to the airport. Peter was still at LU working and offered to take me. I had suggested going to dinner to catch up with Peter and Jeff - when Jeff said he couldn't go, I wasn't terribly disappointed. The rest is history. From there, we did long distance as I finished college and Peter worked in Buffalo. After graduation, God opened up the doors for me to move back to CT to work at Yale and for Peter to work at AB in Manhattan. We call this time in our lives "short distance". On October 25, 2019 Peter got down on one knee and proposed on a pier overlooking the skyline of Manhattan surrounded by family and friends. The best day of my life. I can't wait to marry my best friend. The time can't move fast enough.
So Jess gave me this log in for a website called 'The Knot' and asked that I write my version of 'our story'. Yeah, sure, no problem - easy enough. I saw this chick, thought she was hot, strapped the wheels on, swept her off her feet and the rest is history. The real version goes like this: My buddy Jeff was trying to "get to know" Jess' roommate and realized that he needed his wingman to tag along. I walked in to the girls apartment and saw this girl, drained from balancing a 4.0 GPA in nursing school & playing a D1 NCAA sport with the most beautiful smile on her face. I just read Jess' version, and I must say - I also vividly remember that first night I met her. I remember thinking to myself 'I literally could see myself marrying this girl'. Here's an incredibly smart girl, she's beautiful, she's athletic, she loves Jesus and her presence radiates joy.Fast forward a couple months of a beautiful friendship beginning to develop into a relationship - it was perfect timing (not) that I was going to move back to Buffalo to begin my professional career. The long distance was hard - even led to a breakup - but it was completely worth it. My American Airline miles from trips to go visit her have probably led to me being a platinum member for life. Thankfully God opened doors for us to be together in the NYC area for the last year and a half. It's tough to put the story of our relationship into words, but what went from two friends playing spike ball and volleyball fueled with a flirtatious competition has led to the most beautiful relationship that has pushed me to grow in ways I never could have imagined. If you know J, you know she is smart and beautiful, but you also know a girl who is driven and wise beyond her years. She always makes the right decision, puts others in front of herself and loves without expectation. Over the last three years I've become the beneficiary of her amazing character and the joy that radiates from her. I'm the luckiest guy in the world.
