As written by Emma: A solo trip, layoff, and a month long road trip later, I found myself eager to move up to the Bay Area to jumpstart my career and get my ducks in a row. I was staying with very welcoming friends and amazing hosts, Kevin (Bridesman) and Carolyn, while interviewing for prospective jobs. The household was throwing a birthday party, and as soon as Peter walked in, I was smitten. We chatted towards the end of the night, I realized he was a member of a rock climbing gym I wanted to join, and we made a date to go the next day. Climbing turned into drinks, which turned into dinner. The next day I flew back into San Diego, and two weeks later I received a job offer, and moved in with Kevin, Carolyn, and Kristy in the Bay Area. Peter took me out that night, and the rest is history! Peter–I'm so lucky I met you and I can't wait to marry you. As written by Peter: As Emma mentioned, I remember being at a house party at the Kevin and Carolyn household and seeing Emma walk. I immediately thought "I have to talk to her, but she's way out of my league". Eventually, I built up enough courage to talk to her and she mentioned she was thinking about moving up to the Bay Area for work and while she was here, she was going to check out a rock climbing gym that I was already a member of. I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by, so I offered to show her around the gym the next day. Only issue was I wasn't sure if I had just asked her out on a date, or in her eyes, was just being friendly. I called one of my Groomsmen, Alexey, that night to see if he had an opinion on the matter and he couldn't tell if I had asked her out either (what are friends even good for?). I settled back on the idea that Emma was way out of my league, so I lowered my expectations. However, after visiting the gym, Emma suggested we get a drink and then I suggested we get dinner (I guess it was a date!). After the night was over, I promised her I would take her out on a proper date once she was back in the Bay Area. Luckily for me, she got a job in the Bay Area and a couple weeks later I got to fulfill my promise the day after she moved into her apartment. Since then, I've somehow tricked her into marrying me! I feel like the luckiest man alive and nothing makes me more happy than thinking about the day we get married.
