Back in 2007 there was a high school sophomore boy who met this senior girl. During that year they spent time together whenever they could. Over the summer the boy went on a bicycle trek across the country and the girl then went off to college in September. Over the following years the two saw each other occasionally but the timing wasn't right for a romantic reunion. Finally in the fall of 2018 the two started to see each other and the boy decided he wasn't going to let this amazing girl get away again. The two ended up going steady and then fell in love.

As the love grew for the new couple they decided to plan a vacation. They chose the beautiful country of Portugal to be the destination of their first vacation together. As the trip came closer and their love grew stronger the boy decided he was going to make this a once in a lifetime trip. He bought a ring and was a nervous reck bringing it through security at the airport. Once in Portugal the boy knew the old lighthouse at the end of the Douro River would be a perfect backdrop. He took her to this beautiful place and asked her a question that would change their lives for the best! She said YES!
