WEDDING UPDATE!!

#LifeInTheFrostLane

Hola Family and Friends!! Just wanted to let you know that because of all the craziness of this world, Pete and I have rescheduled our wedding ceremony to Sunday, September 20th, 2020. We'd like to apologize for any inconvenience this might cause, but also thank you for all the support you have shown towards us. We hope you can make our later date. We will be contacting you soon with more details. Love, Adriana and Pete

How we met

In the dog days of the Summer of 2015 Peter and Adriana met onboard USS GONZALEZ. Back in those days it wasn’t “Peter and Adriana,” it was “Ensign Frost” and “Ensign Ayala.” Soon after meeting, the two new Ensigns went to Basic Division Officer’s Course together, then almost immediately following that school they deployed. Deployment is a crazy time, especially as a freshly minted Division Officer. Through the trials and tribulations, port visits, sunrises and sunsets, sea spray, midnight watches, all-night study sessions, and countless nights spent sitting on the bits on the missile deck staring at the myriad stars filling the night’s sky, a relationship was born. Their relationship flourished during numerous times spent at sea together, fantastic trips to Busch Gardens, hikes that took them up and down the state of Virginia, and countless other experiences. Oh! Can’t forget the fluff ball named Athena who has embraced Peter and Adriana’s crazy lifestyle and blessed them with happiness (and increased responsibility) since October of 2016!

Proposal

November 21st, 2018

On November 19th, 2018 Peter came back from being at sea. Adriana’s birthday was in just two days. She knew their plan for her birthday was to go walk through the “Million Bulb Walk” at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens and then go get a nice dinner with her boyfriend and her best friend Tiana. What she didn’t know is that Peter had been fumbling all day with where to hide the little box before they left the house. She also didn’t know the real reason Tiana borrowed that really nice camera - she assumed it was to capture memories for Azai and his Dad, Myer, since Myer was stuck down in Mississippi. The last thing she didn’t know was Peter was hoping dinner was going to be with his fiancé. As they walked through the Botanical Gardens “ooing” and “ahhing” at the various displays, Peter searched for his opportunity, hoping Adriana wouldn’t notice how nervous he was. A little over halfway through the walk, Tiana, Azai, Peter, and Adriana rounded one of the bends, and Peter saw the perfect place. A sidewalk clear of guests with gold lights adorning the path, and a backdrop of blueish-purple lights that reminded him so much of the night’s sky from GONZALEZ. Tiana hung back with Azai, readying her camera. Peter fumbled in his pocket, turning the ring over and over, his mind racing and heart thumping. He paused on the sidewalk. Turned to face her and reached for her other hand for her to face him. A brief explanation, a compliment, a stuttered sentence - man, Adriana was confused! Then Peter dropped to a knee and held that ring up and hoped that actions would speak louder than words . . . time stood still for both of them, and finally Peter remembered the question he was there to ask; “Will you marry me?” She said YES!
