How We Met & How We Began

April 22, 2023 & October 1, 2023

So the story of how we met depends on who you ask, but I'll tell you my side of the story. I was out in service one day with a close friend of mine and she told me that I needed to find a funny brother and that there was a brother in her congregation that she wanted me to meet. It was Peter. She invited friends over for a game day and made sure to include both Peter and I. We played several games, but the one that stood out was jumbo jenga. Everyone who knows Peter knows how chaotic and goofy he can be when playing games. I got my first taste during jenga. He would pull out the most ridiculous blocks during the game and I was thoroughly entertained while watching him goof around, while mildly frustrated when it would be my turn again. Although we both had an interest in each other at the game day it would be a few months before our paths would cross again. This is where Peter's side comes in so I'll let him tell it. Thanks sweetie, I'll gladly take it from here. October 1st rolled around and it was my first time serving as an attendant at our assembly. So, I wanted to make sure I did a good job for Jehovah and so that I would get the privilege of helping out again next time. They put me on the first shift at one of the entrances right in front of the drop-off area and to my surprise Keishla just so happened to be working at the drop-off area too. I noticed her almost immediately and my mind started to race trying to figure out her name and where I met her before (she cut her hair since then). Throughout the rest of the day I was hoping and waiting for an opportunity to talk to her but, our assignment schedules weren't lining up. The end of the day was upon us and I was assigned at the front entrance again along with Keishla and the rest of the sisters who were helping out at the drop-off area. Eventually my partner went home and it was just me and the sisters there at the front entrance and I was thinking of a way to approach Keishla without being interrogated by her posse of spiritual mothers. I came up with a plan but, the brother in charge of the attendants asked me to move to a different location and he dismissed the sisters working at the front entrance too. So, I was presented with a choice: leave without saying anything to her not knowing when or if I'd ever meet her again or muster up courage and go talk to her. Thanks to Jehovah an opportunity presented itself and I walked over to her and began talking to her. The only problem was that my brain decided to throw out the plan I had made while working as an attendant and so I had to make it up on the fly. I was very nervous and I talked to her about how I recognized her from a party a few months back. I managed to get her name again and we talked about how our day went with our respective jobs at the assembly. After congratulating her for a job well done 3 times I decided to ask her for her social media info and we exchanged information. I said goodbye and left towards my new post meanwhile she left with the rest of the sisters who were working. We talked through social media the next day and later in the week we made plans to meet in person again. And the rest is history...

The Proposal

October 26, 2024

I knew I wanted to propose to her in a special place that she liked and a spot that we would both remember fondly. At first I wanted to do it at the Tampa Aquarium but, it would be too far for all of us to go since, I wanted the same people who went with us for our first meetup to be there with us. Then a friend of mine suggested Icon Park because it was a frequent date spot for the two of us. So, I started planning out how to propose to her at Icon Park. I had some help from my friends, family, and future family in-law and I came up with the date. All family members went up in the Eye and when we neared the top that's when I began my speech to her reminiscing about our past year together. Finally, I told her "thanks to Jehovah we have an eternity to spend together. Will you spend an eternity with me? Will you marry me?". She said "Yes" and we all hugged, we all laughed, and we all cheered. Once we got to the bottom she was surprised by the rest of our friends who had signs and gifts for the two of us. Afterwards we went out to a Mexican restaurant where we got Keishla's favorite food (tacos) and spent the rest of the night enjoying it amongst family and friends now happily awaiting April 21st, 2025...
