Our Story

Pete and Becca almost missed each other completely. It was the very last week of college in 2019 when fate (and beer) intervened. They ended up on the same Beer Olympics team during senior week, and if you know either of them, you know they were in it to win it. Despite Becca being... let's say less than impressive at drinking games, their competitive spirit carried them to victory. More importantly, something sparked between them that day. (And it was Becca who made the first move!) After graduation, Becca moved to Scotland to play soccer and earn her Master’s degree while Pete returned home to Pennsylvania to coach baseball. Most stories might have ended there, but Pete had a feeling that he hadn’t just met a teammate, he had met his person. So he got to work! Over the next six months, Pete found every excuse to keep Becca in his life. He sent Snapchats of a 'Scotland' sign that he passed on the way to work and even got tips from a friend who was from Scotland. Becca replied here and there, but eventually the pull between them was too strong to ignore. On Christmas Day 2019, they had their first FaceTime (cue the butterflies). It quickly turned into something real. They started writing letters to each other, and one day a cozy care package from Pete arrived in Scotland. It had sweatpants, a sweatshirt, a blanket, and a beanie (the long-distance boyfriend starter pack). They thought they wouldn’t see each other again until August 2020, when Becca’s program was supposed to end, but the world had other plans. COVID shut everything down, and Becca flew home to NC in March. While it was heartbreaking to leave her adventure early, she’ll tell you the best part of coming home was getting to meet Pete in person months ahead of schedule. One week later, on March 27, Pete drove from PA to NC and officially asked Becca to be his girlfriend. He did it right in her childhood home. They spent a year doing long distance before Pete moved to NC in 2021. Since then, they’ve built a beautiful life together with their two cats, Cinco and Bonnie. On November 17, 2024, Pete got down on one knee and proposed to Becca on the very same street she grew up on, surrounded by her family. Now they can’t wait to celebrate their next chapter with all of you. Thank you for being part of their journey, and they’ll see you in May 2026!
