How We Met

a boy, a girl, and a bakery

Rachel and Eric met in the fall of 2011 at Dakota Harvest Bakers. They were both slinging cookies and found they also shared a love of musical theatre. When working at the bakery the two would sing duets together while stocking the shelves with baked goods. After working together for a while they both helped with a wedding catering event at the Empire. While watching love bloom Eric thought he would take his chance at love. Rachel had absolutely no clue what was coming ;) He asked he if she had tried sushi before. Little did he know that they both had a strong fondness of sushi. They spent hours sharing laughs, stories, memories, and of course sushi! Eventually the lights of the restaurant stated to dim, the world around them slowed down, and the server asked the age old question "together or separate?" "Together" Eric said with out skipping a beat. Rachel had accepted a date with a guy who just weeks prior she was singing along with "Putting on the Ritz" from Mel Brookes Young Frankenstein without having a single clue. (Rachel signing Gene Wilders parts and Eric as Peter Boyle if anyone is curious). This simple but magical date is something that has stayed in their hearts. As long as you have good hearts, good minds and good food what can really go wrong!

Our Journey Together

Finding the fun

Throughout our 10 years together we have gone through many different adventures. Working many different jobs both together and separate, adopting our first cat (Sophie!) , moving to the twin cities, performed and designed several theatrical productions, rescued a kitty in the cold (Lily!), and watched many many many movies. Throughout all of these adventures and more we are able to find the fun in every moment!

The Proposal

Fondue and Happiness

Eric made secret plans to go out for Rachels birthday. Knowing full well that the night would end in more than just delicious fondue. We got all dressed up and headed out in a snowy night to The Melting Pot. We had a delicious dinner of meat, cheese and chocolate. Of course as always there was never a dull moment of conversation. We recalled the past year as well as looked a head to the year to come. As the evening wound down we made our way home. Rachel and Eric entered their home and were greeted by Sophie. Eric took advantage of a distracted Rachel to grab a very special little box. Rachel caught top with Eric in their bedroom standing with a look of love in his eyes. Eric then told Rachel that she has made him the happiest and best version of him that he has ever known, gave her a big hug. Rachel had noticed his heart was racing in the embrace. Eric held her tight for one extra moment. He grabbed her hands and as he got down on one knee, and Rachels heart also started race, and Eric asked "Will you Marry me?" Thankfully she said yes.
