6am sharp hit the clock, and the shrieking of the alarm intensified with angst. A sound and number on the clock you normally wouldn't associate with the word "vacation". This marked the first morning of the Feltman side of the family's weeklong reunion. Rather than grumbling and groaning, we pulled ourselves out of our slumber, turned over the ignition in Sam's little blue roadster, and drove off into the dark. The destination was highway 119, more affectionately known as the Tunnel of Trees; a scenic and gnarled route that lines the north-west portion of the state, overlooking Lake Michigan. We we're determined to set our tires on an empty road ahead. Of course, that's the best way to enjoy a twisty road. Ulteriorly, we we're on the route to find the best scenic pull off the morning had to offer. One thing to know about Samantha, she loves the drive. Experiencing the wind through her hair and taking corners at pace is surely a recipe to make her smile. She was very reluctant to stop and pull off a desolate Tunnel, even if it was to watch the beautiful sunrise. Persistence and the inevitable soccer-mom minivan traveling '20 under' was enough to slow down and smell the roses. There on the side of the vast lake, under the sunrise, I got down on one knee and asked Samantha to marry me. We are thankful and excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Grand Rapids!
