How We Met

Megan's Story

Many people know how Jack & I met already but I love telling the story so here I go! It all began with our mutual friend, Ty Bugbee. Ty & I frequently ran into each other on campus & at our favorite coffee shop! We realized that we had a lot in common such as our love for music so he invited me to join him & his friends to go watch a live Paddlebots concert. I was hesitant at first as it was a little outside of my comfort zone to go to a get together, knowing only but one person. Last minute, I pushed my fears aside, grabbed a bottle of wine & told Ty I was on my way. With my rose in hand, I walked a few blocks to find Ty's house. As a walked in the house, there were a group of gentlemen all playing music, including Ty. I quickly looked around the room and saw the lovely Emily (aka my maid of honor). I asked if I could sit next to her and in return shared my bottle of rose with her. As a looked up to watch the guys jamming, a devastatingly handsome man with a glorious mustache was playing the guitar and singing. I'm sure you all know who I am referring to ;). He immediately had my attention and I immediately knew that their was something special about him. After the jam sesh, we all walked to Rubbles bar, with my new friend Emily by my side. Interested in who the handsome man was, I began to ask Em questions like, "Is he single?". After getting a few more drinks in me, I finally built up the courage to ask Jack to dance. This is not something I would have every done in a million years, but as I said I could tell their was something special about him. Jack kindly accepted and we danced the night away! As a walked home that night, I was all smiles with my heart pumping out of my chest as I knew this was the beginning of something wonderful.

How We Met

Jack's Story

The 405 was always the place to be, and that night was like many others at first; a great group of friends all hanging together. At some point I found myself on the bass creating some sort of bluesy funky conglomeration of noise. For whatever reason I distinctly remember being in the key of B. In the middle of playing I saw Meg walk into the house, her long flowy hair first caught my attention. After I realized how beautiful she was I tried to play it cool, but was probably trying to bust out the best bass playing a guitar player could. I kept my eyes on her all night until we wound up at Rubbles for a show. We ended up dancing for a bit, and exchanging numbers. Some hiking, roller blading, more dancing, cooking, traveling, laughing, and Nellie-raising later, and we are getting married!

The Proposal

11.08.2020

This date marked our three years of being together. I knew something was up when Jack asked me to go on a relaxing weekend getaway which consisted of watching the sunrise in the east side of the state and set in the west. We started by driving to Alpena to stay at an Airbnb where we had a romantic evening of stargazing which ironically ended with watching the movie 'Yes Man'. The next morning we woke up bright & early to watch the sunrise over lake Huron. We were the only people their (+ Nellie) and it was so peaceful; that amazing transition between night & day. After a successful sunrise, we headed up north to Pyramid Point. I began to get extra suspicious as this was where we went hiking the first time, when Jack met my parents, and the first time he said "I love you." After hiking to the top of pyramid point, we found the perfect spot to settle in. Some time passed while we enjoyed the view, then Jack asked if I wanted to take a photo with the sunset. He was a clever man by bringing a tripod along! As the burst shots were being taken, Jack pulled my Mom's ring out of this pocket, got down on one knee, said some sweet words (that I now don't remember because I was so nervous & excited) & asked me to marry him.
