Our story starts as you may think, in the woods of Western Mass by a fire. We had no idea an acquaintance between mutual friends would grow into something much more special. We continued to see each other throughout the year and it became evident that there was a magnetic pull to be in each others lives. As we began to know one another on a deeper level, we realized our mutual love for outdoor adventures, traveling, music, and family would create a bond that could bring us places we had never thought possible. Within the next year, we packed up our lives into a U-Haul trailer to try our hand at Western living.
We traveled out West, full of desire for adventure and seeing what we could accomplish together. We settled in Littleton, Colorado, which turned out to be a place we called our second home. Littleton provided us access to so much of what Colorado has to offer. Concerts at Red Rocks, hikes in the foothills, and easy access to the Rocky Mountains for skiing and camping. Colorado became a home to us not just for it's incredible scenery, but for the friends that turned into family that we made out there. Our careers both grew as well. Ben chose the path of becoming a land surveyor, and was able to work every day outside with mountain views and learning the ways of his new trade on a vast scale. Haley continued her career in the ICU, adapting to COVID ICU during the pandemic and then pursuing specializing in Cardiac Intensive Care and ECMO. We got our first puppy, Harlow, by divine intervention, which truly made us feel more as a family than a couple. After 6 incredible years in Colorado, our desire to get married was growing. We missed our family and New England, and knew it was time to move home.
Haley knew Ben would be a special person in her life early on in meeting him, but it was the first time she brought him to Cape Cod, in the winter no less, that really helped her picture a life with him. He fell in love with Haley's family's Cape home and the secret adventures and joys that can be found on the Cape in the off season. They spent a lot of quality time exploring the waters of Chase Garden Creek and deepening their connection. It was at the Bass Hole where Ben first told Haley he loved who she was. After seven amazing years together, Haley and Ben could feel that it was time to embark on another adventure; joining their families together with the hopes to start their own. Ben knew he wanted the place that he proposed to hold important meaning to the two of them, and the Bass Hole naturally came to mind. Ben proposed to Haley, with their immediate family gathered round, on the shoreline of Grays Beach. She was swept off her feet with excitement and screamed "I do!" and couldn't stop smiling for days!
We traded in mile high life for coastal living and moved to Cape Cod. We are so excited to be able to see our family and friends more often and enjoy learning even more about the adventures that New England has to offer. We can't wait to get married, officially joining our families together, and continuing to make new memories and lasting traditions.
