Need an activity? Explore the scenic coastal area features a variety of sea animals & wildlife, hiking, diving & a whaling museum.
Explore our cozy coastal home by enjoying shopping, food, and drinks! Ryan works here! Also, drive to the end of Ocean Avenue and you'll find the white sands of Carmel Beach. Look north and you'll see the 10th fairway of the famous Pebble Beach Golf Links.
If you're staying at the Portola Hotel or anywhere near Alvarado Street you are in luck! Take the short 2 minute walk to Old Fisherman's Wharf and taste some amazing clam chowder (Crabby Jim's is our favorite). Don't forget to go to the candy store! If you walk all the way down the wharf and go up the stairs above Rockfish Harbor Grill, you can stand where Ryan stood when he asked Allyson to be his girlfriend!
One of Allyson's favorite places! She used to work there and got to see the jellies everyday. Much of the movie Finding Dory is set at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Take a walk down Cannery Row after your visit to the aquarium. The City of Monterey officially re-named Ocean View Avenue "Cannery Row" in honor of John Steinbeck and his novel that described a colorful past set amid the cannery culture of the time. This is a great place to play tourist and visit some shops, all with a great view of the Pacific Ocean.
While you're in Carmel-by-the-Sea, stop by Alvarado Street Brewery and Bistro for lunch! We recommend all of the beers on draft, the smash burger, and if you're there on Saturday or Sunday, the grilled cheese with brisket. P.S. Allyson works at the Salinas Taproom.
Hit up another Alvarado Street Brewery location and enjoy the beer garden - where Allyson and Ryan first met. :) If you want the real experience, order the Iron Crown Brown (if they have it), and maybe you'll meet the love of your life too!
Check out the beautiful flowers in the Memory Garden. If you walk out the back garden doors you will see Joseph Boston Store - where you will find Allyson and Ryan's "The Door" - the location Ryan proposed to Allyson.
The best coffee in town! Ryan loves the mocha and Allyson always gets an iced almond milk latte with their house made vanilla syrup.
Take the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreational Trail and walk to Lovers Point! You can kayak, paddle board, and catch some surfers in the water.
Carmel Valley is about a 30 minute drive from downtown Monterey, but almost always sunny and 10-15 degrees warmer than the coast. The Joyce Winery and Wine House patio is a great place to spend an early afternoon with a glass of wine or beer in hand.
