Our Love Story

November 16, 2013

On November 16, 2013, Hannah and Ryan's lives changed forever! Hannah walked into the AMC Showplace 16 movie theater as a junior in high school. Before starting her very last shift she was catching one last free movie with a friend. Ryan, on the other hand, was midway through his first day on the job working behind the concessions stand. Not so surprisingly, Hannah really wanted mozzarella sticks - and who was there to take her order? Some really cute new guy she had never seen before! They caught each other's attention right away. Later on during their shift, Ryan built up enough courage to start a conversation with Hannah. He said, "Do you just spend all day here?" Very smooth, we know. They were both totally bummed to find out this would be (seemingly) the first and last time they would ever see each other. Thankfully, that wasn't the case! Hannah had old coworkers that she would come visit from time to time when she went to go see movies. Each time she was there she kept an eye out in hopes that the cute guy she met would be around, but she never saw him there. Admittedly, she may have even tried to Facebook stalk him to see who he was and if he had a girlfriend, but could never find him on social media. Seven months passed since she had left AMC when she found herself behind the counter again. A few months and a whole lot of flirting later, Hannah asked Ryan to be her date to the Homecoming Dance at her school. That night, Ryan asked Hannah to make things official!

Our Engagement Story

January 25, 2020

Ryan planned a surprise date day with the theme of "trying new things" for Hannah. This wasn’t unusual since he’s always sweet and romantic. On the way back home, Ryan told Hannah that he had one more small surprise for her. Ryan took Hannah to the place where they met and fell in love. He took her to a streetlight at AMC where they had their first kiss. He brought out a box that was filled with movie tickets he had been collecting from all the movies they had ever seen together! Among them were the tickets to their first friend group movie and first date movie. He had written notes on some of the tickets such as “You were the best part of this movie." Ryan then asked Hannah if she would walk with him around the pond and golf course behind AMC, which they would do together after shifts or movies in high school. Midway through the walk, Ryan paused at a tree and told Hannah how grateful he was for this place. This is the place where he met the love of his life, they both had their first kisses, and made special memories together. He told Hannah he had three questions: “I had my first kiss with my girlfriend under our streetlight, and I want to know if I can have my last kiss with my ‘girlfriend’ under our streetlight? The second question is more important than the third to me because not everyone does it. Will you spend the rest of your life with me?” Before asking the third question, Ryan said there was something else at the bottom of the ticket box. Hannah found a wooden movie ticket that read: AMC Theaters Presents “Will You Marry Me?” 11:11 pm (the time they shared their first kiss under the streetlight), Saturday, January 25 2020, Adult $10.99 (the price of tickets at the time they worked there), Theater 3 (the theater they had their first date in), Seat 4 (Hannah’s lucky number). Ryan knelt down and asked “Will you marry me?” Hannah said the easiest yes of her life and she and Ryan officially decided to try the biggest "new thing" of their lives together!
