Like most modern couples, Peri and Scott met “online”. However, their first, first-date was before phone dating apps even existed, and they had to go onto the World Wide Web from a computer. In 2004, they met on Jdate and went on one date, but neither of them remember why it was only just one date! Fast forward to early 2021, Scott came across Peri’s profile on a dating app so he swiped right (for those that have never had to suffer through app dating, that means Scott liked Peri and said yes to her). However, Peri swiped left (that means she said no to him). Peri said to herself (and probably a few of her girlfriends), “There must have been a reason we didn’t end up dating, so I’m not interested”. Thankfully, Scott didn't get discouraged by Peri turning him down. He said to himself, "I can't believe she has that many options during the height of COVID and social distancing! Doesn't she remember me? I guess I'll just have to find another way to connect with her." And that he did! Scott didn't give up and swiped right on Peri's profile, on two more apps. (And yes, for all you dating app virgins, the average single person today is on that many dating apps!) By the third app, Peri eventually said, “What do I have to lose? He's certainly persistent. Let me give this guy a chance.” So, she eventually swiped right and they matched. After some initial texting, then talking on the phone, and once fully vaccinated, they finally went on their second, first-date to a restaurant with outdoor dining and air purifiers next to the table! (They should have known right then and there, they were made for each other!)

From that day onward, Peri and Scott were inseparable. They went on adventure after adventure…exploring the city and being tourists at all of the NYC skyscraper lookout points, taking trips to Rehoboth Beach, Montauk, and Cape May, and traveling to weddings in New Orleans, Philadelphia, Bethlehem, and Long Island. Peri even became an avid sports fan, rooting for the Mets and becoming the SECOND biggest Islanders fan in the household. Peri and Scott also bonded over their love of the TV show “Friends”. They realized they were each other’s lobsters 🦞 while exploring “The Friends Experience” exhibit in NYC during the summer of 2021.

Peri and Scott moved to an apartment in Great Neck, Long Island in December 2021. Things were obviously getting pretty serious and in the summer of 2022, Scott popped the big question. It was a beautiful Saturday. Scott made up a “story” that the two of them were going to an Italian restaurant for dinner in Port Washington. He needed to get her to that neighborhood. Peri was LESS then thrilled with the menu at the restaurant Scott said they were going to but she went along with the plan anyway. As they arrived in Port Washington, Scott made a detour and stopped the car at Bay Walk Park. Scott and Peri got out of the car and walked to the pier, where he tried to get her to go down to a floating dock but she was NOT having it… QUICK CHANGE OF PLANS BY SCOTT!!! They continued along the path, making very awkward small talk (sort of like they were on a first date) until they got to the special place. It was the gazebo they took pictures at the year before. Peri wanted to take a selfie and set her phone up on the railing. As she turned around, Scott was on his knee. She looked up and saw a photographer had snuck up and started taking photos as Scott asked for her hand in marriage. Peri was overwhelmed with joy and was both laughing and crying at the same time. She said “YES!” right away and told Scott how much she loved him (and the ring, of course!) They quickly booked a venue and set a date to be married. They can’t wait to celebrate their love for each other with you, their closest family and friends, on May 21, 2023.
