Peri and Dane first crossed paths in the fall of 2020. Peri had decided to head down to Arizona for a couple of months with a few girlfriends during the pandemic. She was going to be staying at her parents' house in Florence. Dane lived in North Scottsdale, about an 1.5 hours away. Lucky for both of them, Peri was bad at geography and set her Hinge (a popular dating app) location to Scottsdale before heading down to Arizona, figuring that Florence had to be relatively close. Their very first date was at Old Ellsworth Brewing Company in Queen Creek, where they talked and laughed for hours. The two would go on a couple more dates, meeting in the middle in Gilbert. After a few months, Peri returned to Washington, and the two went their separate ways, not knowing what the future had in store. Almost exactly a year later, fate stepped back in to reunite them. Peri replied to one of Dane’s legendary “mortgage quizzes” on Instagram, sparking a reconnection. When she came back to Arizona to visit friends, she also went on a “second first date” with Dane—this time finally letting him introduce her to Scottsdale. Not long after, Dane visited Seattle, and soon their lives became a joyful rhythm of plane tickets and weekend adventures. Eight months later, Peri accepted a job in Phoenix, and in June 2022, she made the move to Arizona. Since then, their story has unfolded with countless Friday night dinners at Goldie’s, adventures near and far, and endless games of fetch with their dog, Lilo. Along the way, their love has deepened into something steady, joyful, and true. They’ve cheered each other on in their careers, supported each other’s dreams, and built a life rooted in laughter, trust, and the people they love most. On July 3rd 2025 Dane planned a proposal that felt true to everything they had built together. He laid a path of rose petals from Peri’s parents house to the beach in Priest Point, WA and filled the shoreline with white hydrangeas and roses. Their song played through the speakers as Peri followed the trail toward the water not knowing that friends, family, and neighbors had gathered quietly to watch from their porches. When she reached the sand Dane was waiting to get down on one knee and ask her to marry him. She of course said yes. Now, as they look ahead to marriage, Peri and Dane see not just the story of how they met, but the beginning of a lifetime of chapters still to come. And most of all, they can’t wait to bring all of their favorite people together in one space to celebrate their love.
