First Day of Winter Semester, Business Law class. I was sitting at the second table to the front, and I recognized Charlie from the previous semester. I waved at him, and he smiled and sat right next to me. We got to chatting, really introducing ourselves, and just bonded over our goofiness. This class was every Tuesday & Thursday, and I consistently looked forward to seeing him! After 2 or so weeks, he asked me to grab dinner with him. The rest was practically history. We use the phrase "Love at First Sight" quite often because that's really what it feels like. I have loved him since I've known him. I can't wait to love him forever.
Since we started dating in 2019, we have made it a priority in our relationship to travel together. We have been all over our great state of Michigan, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, D.C., Delaware, and maybe even a few other places I'm not thinking of right now! We have made it a tradition recently to take a vacation during our dating anniversary {February 2nd} and spend a week off together. In February of 2023, we took a beautiful trip to the Holland MI area and stayed in a cabin, right near Lake Michigan. We both had such a wonderful time, it made us want to experience the UP, (we had briefly been for a work trip but didn't get to explore too much.) To be honest, I'm not sure why we picked the last week of April to go up north. There was no real reason we decided to go that time of year, other than we were just wanting to take a trip! I'm not sure if Charlie has another reason now that I'm thinking of it... To be honest, the weather could not have been worse! It rained the whole day we left for the trip, and it was pretty chilly. Getting to the UP was very exciting, it was beautiful up there, even though it was cloudy. On our first night there, April 30th, we decided to take a walk on the beach of Lake Superior. We were staying in the Munising area and headed over to the Miners Castle Rock area. The sun was starting to set (even though it was cloudy) it was just a beautiful evening. I turned around briefly looking at the Pictured Rock shoreline, and when I turned back around Charlie was on one knee with the ring box in his hand. He asked me to Marry Him and I instantly said yes. We spent the rest of the week exploring hiking trails, chasing waterfalls, and walking the shoreline of Lake Superior. We went to Tahquamenon Falls, White Fish Point, and stayed in Mackinaw City on our journey back downstate. We enjoyed many wonderful breakfasts together at "Earl E Birds" diner in Munising, and some of the best coffee. Our first engaged drink together was Buffalo Trace Bourbon. First week of forever.
