Through mischief and mayhem…and dozens of track meets, hotel slumber parties and road trips, most of my favorite stories to tell about my adolescence include Brittany. When we were younger, much of our time together was spent helping her train and prepare for pageants and then celebrating immediately after the pageant with a chicken fried steak smothered in gravy, pickled okra and a Dr. Pepper. She has the biggest and most selfless heart, with a fierce loyalty, protective nature and killer dance moves. You'll likely find her at the reception challenging you to a dance off on the dance floor (Watch out for her “Carlton”).

We first bonded in Middle School over after-church donuts and OJ …and we’ve been besties ever since. This spontaneous and fun-loving mama of (soon-to-be) 3 has always been able to convince me to do just about anything with her big smile and infectious giggle. In fact, many “firsts” throughout my life were experienced with Tara such as first time at a night club, first friend to get married, first friend to have a baby and first time to get violently ill all over the carpet after HS party and try to hide it from her parents (Sorry, Trish!). I am also godmother to her 2nd child, Avery, which is a true honor. If “Pour some sugar on me” plays at the reception, you’ll definitely be able to pick her out of the crowd dirty dancing to the song!

My favorite snow bunny was the first new friend that I made in College at our Dorm (Butler Hall…bloop bloop) back in 2004. Even though she made it for 9 whole days before transferring to another dorm (um….allergies??), that was all the time it took to develop a rock-solid friendship through our days at Texas State and exploring Austin as 20-somethings. Now, we enjoy visiting her in the mountains of Breckenridge when we need to escape the Texas heat. Fun fact: Her stepmom, Jennifer, was actually the one who encouraged me to try Cody’s restaurant years ago…which plays a major part in our love story.

She may be a 90-pound Rottweiler but she has the sweetest disposition and really is the best dog in the world!! When stay at home orders were issues back in March, Hilary and Cody decided to build an A-frame chicken coop (the What-a-coop) and add 2 Rhode Island Reds to their little family. These curious girls love to perch on Cody's lap, get entirely too close to Honey, and chase anything around the yard with an exoskeleton. When we don't give them enough attention, they definitely let us know with their vocals!
