In their senior year of college, Alyssa and her sorority sisters hit the town for a fun night out and ended up at the nightclub where Sam bartended every Saturday night. One of the girls, who was dating Sam's fraternity brother at the time, turned to Alyssa and said that Sam was super nice and single (wink wink), so let me introduce you two! Alyssa's friend kept spilling her drinks and Sam, being the nice guy he is, just kept refilling them. At one point, she spilled another and Sam turned to her and said he wouldn't refill her drink UNLESS she gave him Alyssa's number. What a smooth operator! So she agreed, the sparks flew from there and they can honestly say they have been happily in love, ever since.

To celebrate 5 years of being together. Alyssa and Sam decided to take a trip to New Orleans in April of 2017. Leading up to the trip, Alyssa made several comments to Sam about how long they had been together and that she was ready for a bigger commitment. With a secret plan already in mind, Sam casually brushed this off, much to Alyssa's dismay. They arrived in New Orleans, stayed at a beautiful hotel, and spent the first two nights soaking up all the amazing culture the city has to offer. Now for the plan.. Sam's intention was to take Alyssa out to a nice wine bar for drinks and appetizers. They would then walk through a park to an Italian restaurant for dinner. He would propose to her on a bridge in the park that overlooked the Mississippi River, then they could spend dinner celebrating their engagement. Unfortunately things don't always go as planned.. They sat at the wine bar for a couple hours, both having an amazing time enjoying each other's company. When they finally left, Sam realized that the park closed at sun down and his plan had been thwarted. So when they sat down for dinner, Sam was frantically trying to think of a new plan. He was so nervous that he dumped salt all over his pasta thinking it was Parmesan cheese. That's when Alyssa brought up the subject of their future again. As they finished up dinner, Sam was desperately trying to fend off Alyssa's questions by basically not answering them at all. At this point, Alyssa was quite agitated by Sam's dodging of the topic and was starting to believe Sam was no longer interested in the whole marriage idea. After dinner, they were waiting outside for an Uber, when Alyssa turned away (arms crossed and frustrated). When she turned back around, Sam was looking up at her on one knee with a beautiful ring. People drove past honking and screaming, as Alyssa stood in disbelief, repeatedly saying "Are you serious?!" When Sam finally uttered the words, "Will you marry me?" Alyssa said YES!
