CHAPTER ONE A chance introduction in Orlando It started the way the best stories do — without any plan at all. In 2017, Steve was brought down to Orlando to guest DJ an old school party. Mutual friends made introductions with nothing more than good intentions, and the two of them hit it off simply as friendly strangers. No agenda. No expectations. Just two people who happened to be in the same room at the right moment. They became social media friends, the way everyone does nowadays, and life moved on. For a while, nothing more came of it. CHAPTER TWO Two years later, things got interesting Fast forward two years and something quietly shifted. The likes and comments picked up. Then came the message: "Text me, it's easier." What started as casual conversation turned into something neither of them could ignore. Aileen made a decision — she needed to get on a plane from Orlando to Virginia to find out if what she was feeling translated in person. "She just had to see if the connection and attraction would be the same in person." It did. From the moment they were in the same room again, they both knew. No second-guessing, no overthinking — just a quiet, certain knowing that this was their person. CHAPTER THREE When you know, you know They talked about Aileen moving to Virginia from the very first visit. What they didn't anticipate was how quickly it would actually happen. Six months later — right in the middle of a global pandemic — she sold her house, wrapped up her life in Florida, and moved north. It wasn't without its challenges; Aileen had just launched a business with her two friends a month before she and Steve had even met, and navigating that from across state lines was no small thing. But she did it anyway. Because some things are bigger than the logistics. Together, they built something remarkable in Virginia. They purchased a beauty salon — Shear Artistry Beauty & Esthetics — and launched a bridal business that put Steve right back behind the turntables he loves. Two people, one vision, all in. CHAPTER FOUR The proposal nobody saw coming In June 2026, Steve competed in the Turn the Tables DJ Competition — broadcasted live on YouTube with family and friends tuned in from everywhere. He won. And in his acceptance speech, in front of everyone who matters most to them, he got down and proposed. Aileen had absolutely no idea it was coming. It was, by every measure, a magical moment — made even more special because so many of the people they love were right there to witness it. "So many of our loved ones were able to witness it — and that made it everything."
