Jesus and Sam met back in their freshman year at Hoover High School, during their infamous math class. They became friendly with one another throughout the year, but after their Christmas break Jesus noticed that Sam was no longer around. Come to find out, she moved across the city to Clovis East. They eventually drifted apart but would stay in contact over social media every so often. Fast forward a whole decade, Sam was living in Las Vegas and Jesus was living in Fresno. The intimacy between them was so strong, state lines could not break the connection! When Sam would go back home to visit, she wouldn’t only go home and visit her family (if you know, you know). Sam moved back to Fresno June 2020 and they started off as sneaky links, they both just wanted to “go with the flow and see where things go”. As time continued to pass, Christmas was here and they still hadn’t had THE TALK. At this point, Sam was impatient and needed clarity. She asked Jesus how he wanted to move forward with her and he reassured her that he wanted a future together. From that moment on, he knew he wouldn’t be able to resist this woman.

A LOVE as strong as the Sequoias! From Jesus and Samantha meeting at Hoover High School to being on each other’s Facebooks “People you may know”. They were always meant to be. While celebrating another couple that was newly engaged, Jesus had an intimate conversation with another guest, we’ll call him Tom. Tom asked Jesus a simple question, “why haven’t you married her yet?” In that moment, Jesus doesn’t have any thoughts otherwise, the seed was planted! They were inseparable from day 1 and Jesus knew he had to marry her, but needed the approval of a special person first, Addy! During one of their Wednesday after school Mcdonalds runs, Jesus asked Addy the big question. With Addy’s excitement and approval, and after only 2 1/2 years of dating Jesus decided it was time to buy a ring and figure out the perfect moment. (Let me add that Addy had to keep this secret for months!) After several ideas, conversations, and changed minds, Jesus finally decided to plan an intimate hike at Yosemite while Sam’s sister, Alena and sisteraunt, Estela took the lead to plan a beautiful surprise engagement party at Carlos & Stella’s OG house. On June 10, 2023 they both were excited to get out of Fresno for a few hours and be in the beautiful Yosemite, enjoying one’s company. It started off like any other day, with Jesus taking a last minute pooper, while Sam waited…already getting hangry… Jesus was very adamant about taking Sam to this specific spot that had an amazing view of a breathtaking waterfall. He failed to mention to her that they had a few mile hike going uphill…..if you know Sam, you know she lost her patience, quickly. Jesus didn’t give up, even though Sam really pushed his buttons, he was determined to not leave Yosemite without her being his fiancé. He quickly found a spot to sit, calm the nerves they both had, have a snack, remind each other how special they were to one another and in that moment everything became peaceful. Sam was turned around looking out at the view just yapping away, which was the perfect timing for Jesus to grab the ring and get down on one knee. Without hesitation, Sam said yes!!! They both felt as they were on cloud 9! Sam still had one more surprise….she was under the assumption that they were joining her family at dinner but little did she know they planned and brought all of her closest people together to celebrate their engagement. Sam walked in and busted into tears of joy. This was one of the best days of their lives, thus far.
