Patrick and I were both fortunate enough to both attend Olivet Nazarene University on athletic scholarships outside of Chicago, Illinois. Patrick ran track and field and was in the army ROTC program. For myself, I played softball and my freshman year roommate happened to also be in the army ROTC program where she knew Patrick. Through mutual friends, Patrick and I met and hung out our first semester of college. Over the years Patrick and I remained friends while he was back home in Louisville, Kentucky and he eventually enlisted in the Army National Guard. For my 21st birthday I gathered up a group of friends and we all met in Vegas, Patrick being one of them! It had been close to three years since we had seen each other and what other perfect way to meet up again! Well very clearly, we rekindled and continued where we left off from college it seemed! The last couple years of college was difficult with both of our schedules. I was still in school and finishing softball and Patrick was working and going to school down in Kentucky but we made it happen. The long-distance didn’t seem so long as we took turns visiting each other. Before we knew it, graduation was around the corner along with the big decision Patrick made to move out to California with my family and I. Since we have been home, Patrick and I both have secured great jobs and are looking at getting a house of our own right before the wedding!
