Our time as early twenty-something year olds in Salt Lake City was a lot of fun and a lot of work. We both had jobs and hobbies throughout the city. The thing is- neither of us knew each other existed. That is until some of our mutual friends decided to introduce us. Time was hard to come by so when there was time to party and hang out, we were all about it. There were many times we had stepped out on group gatherings to take walks for ourselves. Often we'd stroll, or skate, and talk until dawn, surprised that so much time had passed by so quickly. Eventually, we lost physical closeness. One of us had a big adventure planned, and the other wasn't going to stop that green-eyed beauty from fulfilling her adventure. So we became pen pals. Writing back and forth through snail mail was something special. It provided a chance to create memorials of our affection through a distance. As time marched on, we grew apart. Ten years went by. We both changed as we glided into our thirties. But you know what they say: as much as things change, they stay the same. Something interesting happened in 2022. Snapchat, of all things, suggested us as friends since neither of us changed our phone numbers in all these years. All it took was a single conversation and one meet up to see that we never actually grew apart. It's been over three years since then and we still accidentally stay up all night laughing, talking, sharing feelings, and being the dorks we fell in love with in the first place.
