Since he was 14, Michael's greatest passion has been aviation. So when he was offered a job at JetBlue, he decided to leave Indianapolis and move to Boston. He chose an amazing apartment across the street from Fenway Park and with some help from his friends, moved to a brand new city to pursue his dream career. A few months later, Lauren was following her greatest passion and traveling around South America with two of her best friends. After hiking Machu Picchu, she met a vendor at a street market who sold her two rose quartz and told her that if she was patient, they would bring her soulmate into her life. Six days later on August 12, 2016 Michael and Lauren met. He took her on their first date to an Improv Comedy show, and they’ve been laughing together ever since.
On one of their first dates, Michael took Lauren apple picking and there happened to be a giant fall-festival themed rocking chair at the orchard. They climbed up in it and took a photo. A few months later at Boston’s Winter Village, they spotted another giant chair. They climbed up in it and took a photo. Then spring sprung and they went on a bike ride around the city. And on Boylston street … you guessed it. Giant chair. But try as they might, they just never ran into a summer themed chair. Until Copley came along. Years later, after picking up their brand new puppy, they were driving home and happened to drive past Gardner, Massachusetts AKA “The Chair City” named for the 20 foot tall chair randomly standing in the middle of the town. Finally their Giant Chair montage was complete. Time goes on, Copley grows up, and Lauren forgets about the saga of the Giant Chairs. And that’s when Michael starts planning the world’s most perfect proposal. Lauren and Michael had been planning to spend a long February weekend celebrating her sister (and Maid of Honor)’s birthday skiing in Vermont. On the drive up, Michael took an exit and parked the car. He turned to Lauren and asked if she’d like to take Copley for a walk. And when she looked out the window to see where they had parked, there was the 20 foot chair. Under the stars (and with Copley in tow – obviously), they climbed up the chair and Michael asked Lauren to marry him. But the story doesn’t end there. They finished the long drive up to Vermont, and when Lauren opened the cabin door, her family was all waiting inside to surprise her. Michael had arranged an entire weekend for them to celebrate together. And it will forever go down as the best weekend ever… Until December 2021.
When you couple a pilot and a travel enthusiast, it just makes sense to turn their wedding into a travel excuse for all of their family and friends. Lauren and Michael are so excited to share their biggest adventure yet in Mexico with you!
