Once upon a time, in a small cow town, there were two awkward high school freshman, who were destined to be together. Travis, the bike-riding charmer, and Shelby an awkward brunette with a heart full of curiosity. They had a magnetic attraction, but fate had other plans for them. Back in 2007, Travis summoned all his courage and pedaled his way to Shelby’s house, in what can only be described as the 13-year-old equivalent of sliding into the DMs. Travis, smitten by her braces and green eyes, poured his heart out, but Shelbys close girlfriend had already claimed dibs on him. Being the loyal friend that she was, she declined Travis's advances and they parted ways. Little did they know, their love story was only taking a temporary hiatus. Through the years, they went through the trials and tribulations of high school, navigating the waters of dating the wrong people and getting into trouble. Our track runner/dancer Shelby and Travis, the car-loving water polo/baseball playing stoney balogna, had their fair share of adventures separately, but never really crossed paths. Fast forward 8 years later, to New Year's Eve in 2014/2015, where the stars had aligned, and the fireworks went off. Travis found himself in North Lake Tahoe with his best friend, while she was in South Lake with her best friends. Travis, seizing the opportunity, slid into her DMs hoping for a chance to reconnect. Initially, she didn't pay much attention, leaving Travis's message unread. (She’s done this to all of us let’s be honest.) But destiny had other plans. As if guided by an unseen force, (or booze, mutual friends, and Stateline magic) our two 21 year old babes found themselves in the same sports bar at Harrah's casino. Drinks were flowing, and the atmosphere was electric. And when Travis made his move, it was as if a magnetic force pulled them together. He insisted on teaching Shelby to play roulette, and in just 20 minutes, they were $500 richer. Celebrating their newfound luck, they toasted with Patron shots, and from that moment on, their love story was set in motion. They connected quickly bonding over their wanderlust spirit, hopes and dreams. The chemistry was just as they remembered, and made them feel young and hopeful. Travis a welder with a mechanical engineering mind, and Shelby an esthetician with a digital marketing background had a like-minded energy to work hard and play hard. Looking back, Shelby cringes at her fashion choices that night - cheetah leggings and self-cut bangs. But Travis had a way of making her feel like the most beautiful person in the world. And in the middle of the street at Stateline, she took a leap of faith and planted a kiss on Travis. It was the best decision of her life. Fast forward to the present day, and their love story has blossomed into something truly extraordinary. Nine years together, two and a half years engaged, and one year as proud parents to their beautiful boy. They have grown together, supporting each other through the highs and lows, navigating the unpredictable waters of parenthood, and cheering each other on in their careers and hobbies. Travis works hard to provide for their family and is thriving in his career, allowing Shelby to spend precious quality time in these first years of Hayden's life. Their love and support for one another continue to grow, just like their family. And now, they eagerly await the day when they can officially call each other husband and wife. Their taste in tequila has improved, their passion and love has grown deeper, and they’ve uplifted each other through some of the most challenging and unpredictable times God has thrown their way.
