We met at Sidecar, a lounge in Denver. Michelle was sitting at the bar drinking her Moscow Mule minding her own business when Gabe walks in. Michelle looks over and their eyes meet for a brief second he smiled, she smiled back and looked away. Next thing you know, he is standing in her personal space and he begins talking, like Gabe always does :) Gabe orders himself a mule, then the fun begins. They begin to talk about all the normal stuff people tell one another when getting to know one another. They find out they are both fairly new to Denver and both moved for work. He tells her he is from Houston, she tells him that she too is from Houston, kinda. They figure that at one point in time they lived only 20 minutes away from one another. The drinks keep coming and so does the conversation. We look up and 2 hours have passed and their meters have run out for their paid parking. Not ready to say goodbye just yet we each go out and feed our respective meters and resume our drinking and conversations. Another hour passes and it is late. We decide we should get some rest and before we head out Gabe asks to take a selfie. This completely throws Michelle off but she agrees. They take the selfie close out and he walks her to her car which she is greeted by a ticket for $25. Apparently the parking cops do not play in Denver. They kind of laugh about it and Michelle gets in her car and heads home. Before the night is over they already planned their next date. And the rest they say, is history!
One of our first dates was at a Kava bar in Denver. We were going to go to a concert but the line was WAY to long so we (and by we I mean she) found this Kava bar. Kava is a root plant that is found up and when added to water makes a drink that is supposed to have hallucinogenic properties. It was a cute little place and we were pretty excited to try something new. We got a starter set that came with Kava in different ways. The first shot came in a what looked like a dollar store plastic salsa bowl. Gabe was a stud a downed the whole thing. Michelle on the other hand was having issues choking it down. The 'bartender' saw this and offered her vanilla flavored coffee creamer....this didn't help, at all. Kava was a beast and we were loosing the battle. 3 more various types of shots of Kava and we made thru. We left the Kava bar laughing and joking about how awful it was. We went to the concert and had an absolute blast! The Kava bar became one over our favorite date stories. June 20th 2017 we found our self back in the area of a Kava bar. Gabe suggested we stop in and take a picture since we didn't get one the first time we were at the Kava Bar. Michelle agreed because she did want that picture but mostly because she had to apparently use the bathroom. Michelle left so Gabe set up a way to get the entire thing on video. When Michelle came out she started telling Gabe about a mahican in the corner that scared her. We got set up to take a picture. Game asked for one more and stepped back, got down on one knee and popped the question!! "Yes, Yes, a million times yes" -Michelle
