Like all great modern love stories, ours started on Hinge. After a few messages back and forth, we decided to meet in real life at Swiftwater Brewing Company. What started as “just a drink” quickly turned into hours of talking, laughing, and looking at many different skylines, I realized we might have stumbled onto something special (and not just because of the craft beer). Along the way we became national park enthusiasts, professional mixologists, and miniature horse owners. I became a marathon sideline superstar — elite cheerleader, professional sign maker, and undefeated champion of early morning drop-offs. Sarah, meanwhile, added a new team to her roster: the perennial powerhouse Oklahoma Sooners. Crimson and cream slowly (and permanently) made their way into the wardrobe. Always the renegade, Sarah was the one who said “I love you” first. I had been thinking it for quite some time — I just chose to let her have the milestone. After all, I knew I had something pretty wonderful up my sleeve, and my moment was coming soon enough… To Sarah, what felt like an eternity later, that moment arrived. It was my birthday — which, naturally, turned into one of the most memorable nights of our lives. There were a few minor hiccups (I’ll spare you the details), but the evening ended at our favorite wine bar, where I got down on one knee and asked Sarah to spend the rest of her life with me.
