Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rhea Malhotra and Peeyush Shrivastava
Having been to Mayakoba just a couple of times for wedding planning, we’re basically experts. Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy the resort and explore the area!
Enjoy the Resort

Enjoy the Resort

There is plenty to do without ever leaving Mayakoba (and all included with your resort fee!). Learn the basics of mixology from the talented bar team during the daily 6:00 p.m. demonstration at Cielo, or sample two of Mexico’s most iconic spirits during the complimentary Tequila & Mezcal: Roots of Mexico tasting, offered daily at 5:00 p.m. at La Cantina. For time on the water, guests can take advantage of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, snorkeling masks, boogie boards, and catamaran outings. We also highly recommend taking one of the resort’s boat tours through the property’s winding lagoons - it’s a beautiful and relaxing way to explore Mayakoba and spot some of the local wildlife.

Explore the Cenotes

Explore the Cenotes

One of the most special natural features of the Yucatán Peninsula is its cenotes: crystal-clear freshwater pools formed within limestone caves and jungle landscapes. The nearby Ruta de los Cenotes, located outside Puerto Morelos, is home to a variety of cenotes where you can swim, explore caves, zipline, or simply relax in the water. Some popular options include the underground, cave-like Cenote La Noria; the bright, open-air waters of Verde Lucero; and Bocas del Puma, which offers both open and enclosed cenotes. Renting a car or booking a taxi is the easiest way to explore the route, and we recommend bringing cash, water, and a change of clothes.

Shop and Explore Playa del Carmen

Shop and Explore Playa del Carmen

Km 282 Puerto Juarez, Playa del Carmen, Q.R. 77710, Mexico

Playa del Carmen is about 15 minutes south of Mayakoba and is the best nearby destination for shopping, dining, and exploring. Its famous Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue, is a lively pedestrian street lined with restaurants, cafés, international shops, jewelry stores, and local artisan boutiques. For more shopping, visit Quinta Alegría, an open-air shopping center located directly on Fifth Avenue, or Plaza Playacar for boutique clothing, and locally made crafts.

Tee Off at El Camaleón

Tee Off at El Camaleón

If you’re hoping to fit in a round of golf during the wedding weekend, Mayakoba is home to the 18-hole El Camaleón Golf Course. The course runs through the resort’s jungle, mangroves, canals, and oceanfront, so it’s a beautiful way to spend a few hours on property. Tee times are available for guests, and the course has multiple tee options for different skill levels. If golf is on your list for the weekend, we recommend booking in advance.
