DAN AND KARA’S STORY

09.03.13

Dan and Kara met at their work in 2013. Dan transferred into her department and was lucky enough to be given the desk next to Kara. Before long she had taken over his desk with her collection of funny pictures, magnets and even a pet fish named Jeffrey. Quickly picking up on Dan’s interesting way of saying things and constantly being able to make each other laugh, they became work friends immediately. Even after Kara had left the company they remained friends and stayed close. Before long, Kara found her way back to the company (with all her funny pictures, magnets......RIP Jeffrey) and their friendship continued to grow stronger. As fate would have it (a detour to IKEA while on lunch at work) Dan finally worked up the courage to ask Kara on a date... over Swedish meatballs of course. Kara said yes and the date was set! The day arrived and Dan had the evening planned. Little did Kara know, before going to dinner, Dan suggested stopping in and meeting his parents......yes, this was the first date. Interesting strategy by Dan but at the end of the day it worked. They have been inseparable ever since.

DAN'S PROPOSAL

12.07.19

Dan asked Kara if she wanted to go to Detroit on December 7th to see the Christmas tree & then meet up with his Uncle Karl & Aunt Peggy for dinner. She happily said yes! On the morning of the 7th, Kara woke up and said “today is going to be the perfect day”. Ironically enough, she had no idea what Dan had in store for her that day. They spent the afternoon downtown taking in all the holiday decorations & seeing the tree. They eventually made their way over to MGM where they met up with his Uncle Karl in the lobby of the hotel. He stated that Aunt Peggy was on "a heater" so he advised Kara & Dan to head up to their room for a drink & they would meet them up there. Once they got to the room, Kara broke out a steamer & insisted on steaming the shirt Dan had brought for dinner. Dan stopped Kara & told her it was no rush, to relax & check out the room. The room was a suite so it had a few additional doors that were shut at the time. As she opened the door to the bedroom she heard music, saw balloons, candles, photos & rose petals…… she quickly shut the door. It was clear to her that his Uncle Karl had planned a surprise for his Aunt Peggy. Dan laughed it off & insisted they enter and check out the room. Once in the room, Kara still didn't realize what was about to happen. Dan held her hands, nervously recited his feelings towards her & then got down on one knee & asked her if she would marry him. The tears were flowing as she kept saying “is this real, is this real” & then finally gave him a “YES!” About a bottle of champagne later, they went downstairs to meet Dan’s Aunt & Uncle at Wolfgang Steak. When they walked into the restaurant, Dan had one more surprise up his sleeve! He had a private room with his parents, Kara’s parents, his Uncle Karl & Aunt Peggy, his brother-in-law Gabe & his two sister’s Rachel & Sarah from Georgia there! The night couldn't of happened without all of their help & without all of them being there! It was absolutely perfect

For all the days along the way
