I've always been a little awkward, but I took it to another level when I asked Caroline to a KBBQ dinner while out panting in line for our next drill rep during frisbee practice. Maybe too out of breath to realize what I was getting it, she ecstatically said "sure...". Fast forward to the night of the big dinner - I put on my nicest SSBD (short-sleeve button down) and color accented khaki shorts. Who knows, maybe she likes the preppy look! I get a text from Caroline that she's on her way....and she's bringing her best friend Cleo! Normally this would have made me a little upset, but the thought of spending the next couple of hours searing pork belly and kimchi on a hot surface kept me animated. Dinner was great (really enjoyed your company Cleo!), and once Caroline realized it was supposed to be a date, expressed her interest in trying again, minus the third wheel. So naturally, our second date was at Chipotle with an old college friend I hadn't seen in a while. We'll never be the most graceful or smooth couple, but we're never short of things to look back and laugh at.
