On a brisk Brooklyn evening in April 2018, Rainbow Kitten Surprise hit the stage for a sold-out concert at Brooklyn Steel. Yes, that’s a real band name. Keegan tagged along with her friend Lindsay, who happened to be a coworker of Pearson’s. Pearson, never one to miss a concert, met up with the group before the show. He thinks it was probably a great performance, but to be honest, he can’t remember much more than trying to steal glances at the girl standing a few spots over. Fast forward a few months: another concert run-in at Alt-J. Keegan had just gotten off a long flight, but didn't want to miss the chance to see Pearson. This says a lot because the only thing Keegan loves more than Pearson is sleep. Sparks flew & they both knew, this was it. One problem. Pearson didn’t get Keeg's number. So he took to Facebook Messenger. Okay, two problems. Nobody under the age of 40 uses Facebook. With a little help from Lindsay (“Keegs, check your FB message!”) a few weeks later we struck up a conversation that’s been getting better every day for the past 3+ years. Our first date: tacos, margs & conversations about Broadway, probably. Our first kiss: later that night, looking out at the skyline from the waterfront in Domino Park. Our first “we’re official”: Pearson returns home from a weekend in Chicago & tells Keegan “I hope it’s ok if I referred to you as my girlfriend all weekend, it just seemed easier." 2 ½ Years Later Pearson & Keegan visited NYC in May of 2021. Unbeknownst to her, Pearson had organized all our closest family & friends to wait patiently at a Brooklyn wine bar on a drizzly Saturday afternoon. After brunch, they found themselves near the Brooklyn waterfront. Pearson asked Keegan for a stroll down to Domino Park, the spot of our first date. The rain was tough to justify and Keegan begged to duck out into a coffee shop. But with some pleading, we made it to the spot of our first kiss. She realized what was happening. She said yes.
