A Tale Of Two Pirates

Bucaneer Days 2015

Boarding the Catalina Express headed West with no intentions, a bottle of 151 rum, and a box of cheddar Cheez-its (both of which he offered to Nikki and she refused) Nigel did not expect to meet his best-friend and soon to be soulmate. Nikki went to the top deck of the 60ft vessel looking to relax and enjoy the ocean air before the weekend of pirating. Her hat blew off and Nigel valiantly saved it from blowing away, the conversation started to flow like the salmon of Capistrano. Spending the next two hours talking about himself Nikki seemed to find herself wondering if he was ever going to ask about some of her stories (X-Games style boardercross racing, Stand-Up Paddle Surf World Competition, or Som Certification). Alas the boat arrived at Two Harbors and the two parted ways not thinking they would see each other in the madness that ensues at Buccaneer Days. As Nigel exhaled from 40ft with spiny lobsters in tow, he surfaced and could not believe his goggles. Was that HER paddling across the horizon? How did she know about this secluded cove...how did she happen to be paddling by as Nigel came up for air? Twas fate that brought the two to meet again in their most natural of habitats. The ocean brought them together and the ocean would keep them together. That evening, after leaving their respective ships, the two made for land. Of two thousand pirates plundering for booty...the two HAPPENED to met again! Sharing a swig of rum and this time listening to Wench Nikki's stories, they locked arms and shared a kiss under the full Catalina moon. The two barely slept, drunk on the excitement of finding one another at sea. As fate would have it, Nikki unexpectedly would need to take the Catalina Express back. The bar was set. Nigel knew at once she must become a stowaway aboard the Three Sheets and sail back to shore as a real pirate! No wind and 8 hours later, the rest is history….Now welcome to San Clemente and enjoy the mystery that continues to unfold...

Why San Clemente?

San Clemente is the sweet spot between Long Beach and San Diego. It holds a special place in our hearts as San Onofre was the second place we surfed together and the pier was the first surf contest that Nigel attended with Nikki to cheer her on. Many stops were made here while driving back and forth between San Diego and Los Angeles County as we have lived in both places over the past couple years.
