The Sangeet is a night of song and dance. It is a celebratory pre-wedding event in which friends and families get together and celebrate the couple by partying and sharing original performances such as songs, dances, and skits. In earlier times, the Sangeet would last for 10 days with celebrations up until the wedding day. Sadly, this will not be the case, but Pooja and Bea expect you to do 10 days of dancing in one night!
1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Wear shoes you can walk on the grass and dance in :)
Our ceremony will be preceded by a Baraat next to Bruce’s Barn. This is a pre-wedding event in which Pooja will travel to the wedding venue on a horse and carriage. The procession is part of a North Indian tradition in which the fiancé would make an arduous trek over a period of 5-7 days to the bride’s home to impress the bride's family (Pooja suggested backpacking the Appalachian Trail before the wedding, but was told she had events to attend beforehand!). As Pooja arrives by horse, she will be joined by her guests dancing and leading the way. When they reach the Barn, they will be greeted by Bea’s family and friends. The wedding ceremony will begin after the baraat and take place on the lawn outside the Barn (inside the Barn in case of rain). Guests are welcome to wear Indian or Western attire. There will be time before the Reception for those who would like to change their clothes.
