It was Memorial Day weekend of 2018 and I was heading to the lake house of some random guy for my friend Sydney’s birthday. Sydney’s now husband, Shane, convinced Jaime (the random guy) to let a group of 15 girls come to his lake house to celebrate. Once we arrived at the lake, I remember seeing Jaime for the first time in flip flops (insert me cringing) a backwards Eleven hat and an Alabama t-shirt on filling up the boat with gas. I was trying to play it cool but secretly hoping he would come talk to me. We end up going out on the boat and ended up chatting for a bit but then that was it. We get back and Sydney kept coming up to me expressing Jaime's interest in me for him since he was a bit too shy. I shrugged it off at first, but it wasn’t until later that night, Jaime finally got the courage to come talk to me and the first thing he says is, “you wanna shot gun a beer with me?” Romantic way to get my attention, right? Of course I said yes, and clearly it worked. I won’t say who won for Jaime’s sake. But needless to say ever since then, there hasn’t been a day that has passed by without Jaime in it.

We were headed up to the lake house to what I thought was Hugo’s Birthday party when we pull into the driveway and pass the house heading straight for the dock. Confused, I asked Jaime whaaat are you doing? We pull up to the dock and I look up and see the most beautiful set up of these large letter lights that say, "marry me." I immediately burst into tears. As we walk up the steps to the dock I hear Marry Me playing in the background, rose petals everywhere and champagne waiting to celebrate as he leads me to the middle of the dock and drops to one knee. Don’t ask me what was said because I was on cloud 9, and quite literally blacked out. Needless to say the answer was yes. The surprise didn't stop there. Jaime surprised me with our families and closest friends eagerly waiting to celebrate the special moment with us. The lake is a special place for each of us. The place we met, and the place where he asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. We are so excited for this next chapter of our lives and to officially be the new Mr. and Mrs. De Diego!
